Senior Analyst, Strategic Finance - Partnerships

The Role
We are seeking a Finance & Strategy Senior Analyst to join Block and play a key role in strengthening the global partnerships that support all of our business units, including Square, Afterpay, Cash App, and emerging businesses. Block's Financial Product Operations ("Fin Ops") team is responsible for managing the strategy, partnerships, and operations of the financial infrastructure that underpins the platform of each of our business units. The Strategic Partnerships Finance team's role is to partner with the Fin Ops team to design and execute financial strategies and commercial partnerships that enable innovative financial product development in a reliable and cost effective manner.
As a Senior Analyst working on the Finance & Strategy team, you will:

• Collaborate with the Fin Ops team to craft financial strategies for all of Block's business units (Square, Afterpay, Cash App, and other emerging businesses), covering partnerships with card networks, card issuers, merchant acquirers, banking and lending partners, and other financial services and fintech companies
• Support financial analysis and advisory for high-stakes commercial negotiations with Block's most strategic global partners
• Build sophisticated financial models to evaluate trade-offs associated with key contract terms and partnership decisions
• Deliver deep-dive financial analyses to identify new growth opportunities, optimize existing partnerships, and quantify business impact
• Present financial results and takeaways to internal leadership, with an emphasis on underlying drivers and shifts in trends
• Support the financial planning and analysis for key business partners during quarterly outlook and annual / long-range planning processes
• Report to the Finance & Strategy Director, Global Strategic Partnerships

Qualifications

• 2+ years of relevant professional experience, including strategic finance, investment banking, management consulting, or comparable experience (background in fintech preferred)
• Strong interest in the payments industry
• Track record of independently delivering high-impact results and engage with team members of all levels
• Experience with commercial negotiations, specifically advising on deal structuring and commercial terms
• Demonstrable financial modeling excellence with Excel and/or Google Sheets
• Experience with, or enthusiasm to learn SQL

The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
