This is a remote position and can be based anywhere in the U.S.

About the Technical Sales Manager role:

This role will support the solar energy division of OTT Hydromet and will interact with key customer contacts such as system integrators, engineers, EPCs, and production managers. This is a true mix of a business development skillset to identify net new accounts while also helping grow market share within existing accounts.

  • Serves customers by selling products and meeting customer needs.
  • Report and manage all sales activities through our CRM (SalesForce.com)
  • Prepare and present a monthly funnel review utilizing SalesForce.com to demonstrate the quality of the funnel, activity plans, and command of the account base
  • Services existing accounts, obtains orders, and establishes new accounts by planning and organizing a daily work schedule to call on existing or potential sales outlets and other trade factors.
  • Adjusts content of sales presentations by studying the type of sales outlet or trade factor.
  • Focuses sales efforts by studying existing and potential volume of dealers.
  • Submits orders by referring to price lists and product literature.
  • Keeps management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual territory analyses.
  • Monitors competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques.
  • Recommends changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments.
  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
  • Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Travel 10-20%


Are you qualified?

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree an asset
  • 3+ years of demonstrated ability in the sale of technical instrumentation, services, and software. Experience in solar energy, product distribution, and channel partner development and management is a plus
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products, including Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Proven track record to understand and communicate the benefits of a technical product to others
  • Comfortable collaborating with customers in a variety of environments, including phone, video, email, social media, and in-person
  • Formal sales training with experience in value and question-based selling is a plus
