THE OPPORTUNITY
This role is part of the URUS Management Trainee Program. The program is designed for fanatically driven, results-focused, high-impact performers that are early in their professional journeys and aiming to accelerate into leadership positions to ultimately create long-term careers. The program features three, 9-12-month rotations in various parts of the organization with full-time management-level placement after the program. Senior leadership team members serve as coaches and mentors to help program participants gain valuable on-the-job learning and development. The URUS Strategic Sales Analyst will research, analyze, and create dairy performance-based pricing and implementation models that are accessible, accurate, and value creating for the portfolio of products/services marketed by Alta. The successful candidate will also apply revenue management, economics, and forecasting principles to create a sire drafting and semen allocation model that increases total market revenue from bovine semen sales.
Pillars of Responsibilities

  1. Performance Based Pricing Models
  • Determines a performance-based pricing model that includes the full range of products and services across the companies to create a win-win mechanism for both the dairy producers and the company
  • Assesses dairy and beef industry standards and pricing strategies to help the business determine and set competitive pricing
  • Learns about the company's product portfolio and target audiences
  • Explores buying habits of dairies to determine how much people are willing to pay for various products and look for patterns in spending
  • Provides pricing analysis for management
  • Performs margin and pricing analysis to support business initiatives
  • Monitors and updates price lists
  • Validates sales quotes for accuracy and profitability
  • Develops a system of communication, documentation, and review of internal and external comparative data
  • Identifies opportunities to optimize sales and profitability through pricing strategies
  • Consults with sales and marketing teams to develop proposals
  • Prepares multi-year cost and pricing models that may include labor, materials, subcontracts, travel, and other relevant costs
  1. Allocation & Revenue Management Model
    • Learns about the current pricing models of bovine genetic product lines
    • Develops a model that can balance supply and demand of key inventory while creating a pricing strategy that optimizes margins
    • Assesses supply chain operations to determine when to move bulls to production stalls based on age and production capacity
    • Determines the right product allocation, use, and collection schedules that yield the greatest impact
    • Collaborates with sales, client services, and export coordinator functions to create a workflow that achieves cross functional success


Organization Alignment & Position Location

  • This position will report to the Alta CEO and CFO
  • Strong preference is for the candidate to be based in Madison, WI
  • The position may require some travel



CAREER PATHWAYS

At the conclusion of the Management Trainee development program, the Strategic Sales Analyst will have numerous pathway options within URUS to further develop his/her career:
Short-term:

  • Leadership role within a sale or finance team
  • Manager level roles elsewhere within URUS or a URUS Subsidiary.

Medium to long-term:

  • Senior leadership roles within the URUS family of companies at a Director, VP, Senior VP, or Executive level.

CANDIDATE PROFILEEducation & Experience

  • BS degree or higher in agriculture, marketing, business, finance, or a similar field of study. MS or MBA degree would be an asset

1-5 years of work experience in sales, finance, analyst work or corporate business is an asset

  • Strong understanding of or experience in agriculture is an asset
