Join Macquarie's Commodity Trading Team as an Analyst in the Energy Corporate Sale and Origination team.
The Energy Corporate Sales and Origination team focuses on corporates and financial sponsors with large energy exposures such as producers, midstream, transportation, refiners and consumers of oil & gas, refined products, power, and renewables. In particular, the team originates and executes physical and financial client solutions involving risk management, physical flows, debt and working capital. Additionally, the team engages in business development in accordance with the strategy of our global physical oil business.
In this role, you will be an integral member of the team as you sharpen your skills and advance your career. Our workplace design fosters team interaction and through this immersive environment you will learn quickly as you sit side by side with our corporate team.
You will bring to this role:

  • a minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant major.
  • 1-2 years of experience in Sales & Trading (rates, FX commodities), Origination, Structuring, Investment Banking
  • drive and desire to contribute as part of a successful team.
  • enthusiasm and ambition to succeed.
  • a combination of entrepreneurial spirit, quantitative analysis, attention to detail and strong communication skills to drive growth and revenue.
  • Upstream, Oil & gas relevant work a plus


Your additional responsibilities will cover:

  • supporting the sales and origination team in most aspects of their business for clients
  • executing financial derivatives trades with Macquarie's clients
  • quantitative analysis and ability to translate/communicate analysis into actionable client solutions across Macquarie's vast trading and finance portfolio and expertise.
  • checking credit capacity in real time to assist trade execution and seeking credit approval if needed.
  • assessing credit risk of major projects originated by senior members of the team.
  • working on cross selling with other markets desk, such as Credit, FX, Interest Rates, and our Investment Bank
  • developing cash flow models and presentations to assist with credit request.
  • developing external pitch books and generating trade ideas via Office 365 and internal programs
  • running deal metrics for transactions including market risk and counterparty risk calculations
  • booking deals into Macquarie Systems
  • managing and sending market research to clients/desk distribution
  • as needed, obtaining, and providing client indications via applications such as Outlook, Reuters, Bloomberg, ICE, Skype, and Microsoft Teams
  • attending any relevant client or internal calls and writing summaries
  • participating in daily and weekly team calls and staying available on email/phone/chats throughout the trading day with the team.
  • interacting with numerous internal teams: other sales, trading desks (oil/liquids/nat gas/power/metals/ags/FX/rates), investment bankers, credit, legal and mid/back/admin office staff
  • expectations are to evolve to execute energy derivatives and physical oil deals with US, Canadian clients.
  • managing and growing client relationships.
  • Minimal travel required to client sights or other Macquarie offices.
