Job Description

The Sales Manager is pivotal in driving Digital Virgo's revenue by strategically selling a comprehensive catalogue of services, primarily focusing on the telecommunications sector in South Africa.

This role plays a crucial part in expanding our market presence in South Africa, and lead the sales efforts for a diverse array of services designed for various verticals, prioritizing telecommunications. This involves aligning service offerings with industry demands and client expectations to optimize market penetration and revenue growth.


Major Responsibilities:


  • Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and adapt sales strategies and project roadmaps to meet local market needs and expectations. Collaborate closely with local teams, the regional operations manager, and the sales director to ensure strategies are effectively implemented.
  • Operator Engagement: Negotiate and optimize terms with telecom operators, manage ongoing relationships, and explore new partnerships to expand the market reach.
  • Project Oversight: Monitor the implementation of projects rigorously, utilizing group operational teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet expected standards.
  • Industry Advocacy: Actively engage with WASPA and other key professional associations to enhance Digital Virgo's recognition as a leading industry stakeholder.
  • Performance Reporting: Regularly produce standardized reports to provide clear insights into sales performance, market trends, and project status.


    Qualifications

    Specific Knowledge


    • Negotiation Mastery: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms and maintain a competitive advantage.
    • Project Management: Effective coordination and monitoring of all project aspects with internal teams, spanning legal, financial, technical, and commercial aspects.
    • Telecommunications Insight: Deep knowledge of the Direct Carrier Billing (DCB) business and technical platforms of operators.
    • Mobile Financial Services: Knowledge of Mobile Money systems, enhancing the ability to offer comprehensive services to telcos.
    • Reporting Skills: Proficient in preparing detailed and concise weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports that reflect sales activities and project progress.


    Qualifications / Experience

    • Educational Background: Master’s degree in business, Marketing, or a related field.
    • Professional Experience: At least 5 years of experience in sales, preferably within the digital or telecommunications sectors.
    • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in French is a significant advantage.
    • Personal Attributes: A strong commercial mindset and a positive, proactive personality capable of thriving in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
