Role Overview: Retail Sales Specialist

The Retail Sales Specialist will provide critical operational and administrative support to several Sales Directors while helping manage the day-to-day business on Walmart Marketplace. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working across sales, marketing, supply chain, and finance to keep customer activity moving accurately and on time.

The role will support product setup, promotional planning, sales forecasting, customer order follow-up, reporting, and account maintenance. In addition, the Retail Sales Specialist will help manage Walmart Marketplace operations, including inventory monitoring, purchase order creation, listing maintenance, promotional execution, and coordination with Marketing to drive marketplace growth.

Key Responsibilities

Sales Director & Customer Account Support

  • Provide day-to-day support to multiple Sales Directors across assigned retail and e-commerce accounts.
  • Assist with product setup activities, including gathering and maintaining product information, UPCs, dimensions, images, pricing, costs, and required customer documentation.
  • Coordinate customer item setup forms, new-item submissions, assortment updates, and product-content requests with internal teams.
  • Maintain customer promotional calendars, ensuring promotion details, dates, pricing, SKU lists, and required submissions are accurate and completed on time.
  • Track promotional activity and follow up with Sales Directors, Marketing, and customers on key deadlines, approvals, and execution requirements.
  • Update sales forecasts by SKU and customer, incorporating historical sales, promotional plans, inventory availability, customer orders, and growth targets.
  • Follow up on customer purchase orders, shipment status, open orders, deductions, and fulfillment issues in partnership with Supply Chain, Customer Service, Finance, and Sales.
  • Prepare regular sales reports, customer updates, and meeting materials, highlighting sales trends, risks, opportunities, promotional performance, and inventory concerns.
  • Maintain accurate customer records, pricing files, product information, and sales support documentation.
  • Partner with Finance and Sales to validate customer deductions, fees, chargebacks, and other account-related items as needed.

Walmart Marketplace Management

  • Support the day-to-day management of Walmart Marketplace, including item setup, catalog maintenance, listing updates, and product-content accuracy.
  • Monitor inventory levels, in-stock performance, open purchase orders, and replenishment needs; work with Supply Chain to help prevent stock-outs and excess inventory.
  • Create and manage Walmart Marketplace purchase orders and support fulfillment-related issue resolution.
  • Monitor key Walmart Marketplace performance metrics, including sales, traffic, conversion, pricing, Buy Box, returns, out-of-stock rates, and margin.
  • Help maintain listing health by identifying and resolving content errors, unpublished or suppressed items, missing attributes, image issues, and other catalog concerns.
  • Support the planning, setup, and tracking of Walmart promotions and campaigns in partnership with Sales and Marketing.
  • Work closely with Marketing to improve product content, images, ratings and reviews, promotional messaging, and other initiatives that drive traffic and conversion.
  • Identify potential assortment gaps, pricing concerns, inventory risks, and growth opportunities; escalate recommendations to the Sales Director.
  • Maintain accurate reporting and provide weekly updates on Walmart Marketplace sales, inventory, promotional activity, and key action items.
  • Develop strong working relationships with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Finance, Customer Service, and external customer contacts.

Required Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of experience in sales support, customer account coordination, e-commerce operations, retail operations, or a related role.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities, customers, timelines, and follow-up items.
  • Experience supporting product setup, promotional activity, forecasting, customer orders, or retail/e-commerce accounts is preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and basic reporting.
  • Comfortable working with sales, inventory, product, and customer data.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly when managing product information, pricing, promotions, and customer orders.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks, follow through on open items, and escalate issues when appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with Walmart Marketplace or Walmart Seller Center.
  • Experience supporting retail, e-commerce, consumer electronics, gaming, or accessories businesses.
  • Familiarity with customer portals, product-information systems, ERP systems, or marketplace tools.
  • Basic understanding of e-commerce performance metrics such as sales, traffic, conversion, in-stock rate, Buy Box, returns, and margin.
  • Experience coordinating promotions, customer purchase orders, or demand forecasts.

  • Understand the sales organization, assigned Sales Directors, key customers, and core internal stakeholders.
  • Learn the product portfolio, hero SKUs, product setup process, customer order flow, and promotional calendar process.
  • Gain access to required systems, reporting tools, customer portals, and Walmart Marketplace tools.
  • Support basic product setup requests, promotional-calendar updates, forecast updates, and customer order follow-up.
  • Learn the core Walmart Marketplace operating rhythm, including inventory monitoring, purchase-order processes, listing updates, and weekly reporting.
  • Begin preparing regular reports and tracking open action items for Sales Directors and assigned accounts.

Within 3 months you will:

  • Independently manage assigned sales-support activities, including product setup coordination, promotional-calendar maintenance, forecast updates, and customer-order follow-up.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on sales, promotions, inventory, open orders, and customer priorities.
  • Support Walmart Marketplace catalog maintenance, inventory monitoring, purchase-order creation, and promotional execution.
  • Identify and escalate inventory risks, pricing concerns, order issues, and promotional deadlines before they become larger problems.
  • Work directly with Marketing on product-content updates and promotional needs for Walmart Marketplace.
  • Establish a reliable weekly cadence of updates, reports, and follow-ups for Sales Directors and key internal partners.

Within 9 months you will:

  • Serve as a trusted operational partner to several Sales Directors, helping keep customer activity, product setup, promotions, forecasts, and orders on track.
  • Independently manage the core day-to-day Walmart Marketplace operating cadence, including inventory, orders, catalog accuracy, promotions, and performance reporting.
  • Provide actionable recommendations based on sales trends, promotional results, inventory availability, and marketplace performance.
  • Help improve the accuracy and consistency of forecasts, promotional calendars, reporting, and customer-account processes.
  • Document and improve key sales-support and Walmart Marketplace processes, creating clearer tools, checklists, and reporting routines.
  • Be recognized as a dependable internal point of contact for account support and Walmart Marketplace operations.
