As a Research Scientist, you will play a vital role in driving the development of cutting edge electrification solutions for customers worldwide. Within our research organization, you will apply your expertise to support multidisciplinary international, teams in creating innovative technologies that keep our products at the forefront of the industry.

You will be mainly accountable for:
- Material related research with focus on electrical insulation, polymers and functional composites
- Development and application of new material related technologies for ABB Electrification products including switchgears, apparatus and others
- Development of sustainable solutions allowing reduction of environmental footprint of ABB products
- Monitoring of new material related technologies and support in definitions of future research activities
- Cooperation with international R&D teams, universities and institutes
Qualifications for the role:
- PhD degree in Material Science, Physics or related discipline
- At least 5 years of hands‑on research experience in material science, specifically focused on electrical insulation, polymeric materials, and functional composites
- Laboratory experience: tests, measurements and experimental works
- Basic knowledge in area of electrical engineering (required to understand the ABB products specifications and design requirements)
- Good command of English and strong communication skills
- Although not obligatory experience in DC insulation and CAD modeling will be beneficial
