This Position reports to:

Engineering Manager
 

In this role, you will have the opportunity to act as a design authority for an engineering discipline with low to medium complexity. Each day, you will complete assignments on small projects or portions of larger projects in a cost-effective manner. You will also showcase your expertise by applying basic design thinking/design for excellence concepts in projects.

The work model for the role is # LI - Hybrid.

This role is contributing to the to the Process Automation business in Energy Industries division based in Bangalore, India.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • As a Project Engineer – Automation, you will be responsible for the end‑to‑end engineering and execution of automation projects in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemicals, Specialty Chemicals, and emerging process industries.

  • You will independently execute projects from FEED stage through commissioning and handover, acting as a technical interface to end customers, while ensuring compliance with ABB quality, safety, and cybersecurity standards.

  • Execute automation projects from FEED / Concept Engineering through Detailed Engineering, FAT, SAT, Commissioning, and Project Closure

  • Deliver engineering scope in line with contract requirements, schedule, cost, quality, safety, and cybersecurity policies

  • Act as technical focal point for customers, EPCs, and internal stakeholders and identify technical risks early and propose mitigation strategies

  • Automation System Design & Engineering and Industrial Networking & Cybersecurity and Design and implement solutions using industrial communication protocols:

Qualifications for the role:

  • Proven Project Engineer experience in automation projects

  • Looking for 5–10 years of relevant experience

  • Demonstrated execution of end‑to‑end projects (FEED → Commissioning)

  • Experience in Oil & Gas, Refinery, Chemicals, Specialty Chemicals

  • Willing to travel to abroad as per project requirements

  • BE / BTech in Control Engineering, Electrical, Electronics, or equivalent.
