The Production Lead is responsible for overseeing and managing the photography department of an organization. This role involves leading a team of photographers, coordinating and executing various photography projects, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality visual content that aligns with the organization's brand image and

- Team Management:
- Lead and manage a team of photographers, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure their professional growth and productivity. Assign tasks, set goals, and conduct regular performance evaluations to maintain a high level of quality and efficiency in the department.
- Project Coordination:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as marketing, commercial team, and design teams, to understand their photography needs and coordinate photoshoots accordingly. Plan and schedule photography projects, ensuring that deadlines are met and resources are allocated appropriately.
- Photography Execution:
- Personally execute photography projects as needed, ensuring that the photographs meet the required standards of composition, lighting, and overall quality. This may include product photography, fashion shoots, corporate events, and more.
- Brand Consistency:
- Ensure that all photography aligns with the organization's brand guidelines and maintains a consistent visual identity. This involves working closely with the creative team to understand the brand's aesthetics and incorporating them into the photography deliverables.
- Equipment and Studio Management:
- Oversee the maintenance, organization, and upgrade of photography equipment, including cameras, lenses, lighting gear, and studio spaces. Ensure that all equipment is in good working condition and that the necessary resources are available for successful photoshoots.
- Post-Production and Editing:
- Coordinate and oversee the post-production process, including image selection, editing, retouching, and color correction. Ensure that the final images meet the desired standards and are delivered in a timely manner.
- Quality Control:
- Maintain a high level of quality control by reviewing and approving the work of the photography team. Provide feedback and guidance to improve the overall quality of photographs and ensure consistency across different projects.
- Stay Updated on Industry Trends:
- Keep abreast of the latest photography techniques, equipment advancements, and industry trends. Implement best practices to continually improve the photography department’s operations and output.
- Budget Management:
- Work within allocated budgets for photography projects, ensuring that resources are effectively utilized, and costs are managed efficiently. Provide cost estimates for photography-related expenses and seek cost-effective solutions when necessary.
- Legal Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with copyright laws and intellectual property rights. Obtain necessary permissions and releases for photography projects involving individuals, locations, or copyrighted materials.
- Other tasks that may be assigned from time to time
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as graphic design, fine arts, marketing,
communications, or a related discipline. - At least 5 years of relevant experience in the field.
- Adequate Knowledge On:
- Camera Operation: Proficiency in operating different types of cameras, including
DSLRs, mirrorless cameras, or medium format cameras. Understanding camera
settings such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and white balance to achieve desired
exposure and creative effects. - Lighting Techniques: Knowledge of various lighting techniques, including natural
light, artificial lighting, and studio lighting setups. The ability to control and modify
lighting conditions to enhance the mood and composition of the photograph. - Composition and Framing: Understanding of composition principles, such as the
rule of thirds, leading lines, symmetry, and framing. The ability to arrange elements
within the frame to create visually appealing and well-balanced compositions - Image Editing Software: Proficiency in using image editing software such as Adobe
Photoshop or Lightroom to enhance, retouch, and manipulate photographs. Understanding basic editing techniques such as adjusting exposure, color correction, cropping, and removing blemishes. - Studio Equipment and Lighting Gear: Familiarity with studio equipment such as
light modifiers, backdrops, and light meters. The ability to set up and control studio
lighting to achieve desired lighting effects for portrait, still life, or product photography. - Demonstrates a clear understanding of the company's vision and mission, and is
able to effectively communicate them to others. - Maintains a thorough understanding of company rules and regulations, and
consistently adheres to them in all work activities.
- Camera Operation: Proficiency in operating different types of cameras, including
- Possesses strong written and verbal communication skills and is adaptable to
working in a dynamic environment where priorities and requirements may change
frequently. - Can handle high-pressure situations, remain calm under stress, and effectively
manage time and resources to meet critical deadlines. - Can attend to multiple priorities simultaneously, with the ability to prioritize and
manage workload effectively to ensure all objectives are met
Skills Required
- Bachelor's degree in graphic design, fine arts, marketing, communications, or related field
- At least 5 years of relevant photography or production experience
- Proficiency operating DSLR, mirrorless, or medium format cameras
- Knowledge of lighting techniques and studio lighting setups
- Strong composition and framing skills
- Proficiency with image editing software such as Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom
- Familiarity with studio equipment and lighting gear (light modifiers, backdrops, light meters)
- Experience managing and developing a team of photographers, including task assignment and performance evaluations
- Ability to manage post-production workflows including retouching and color correction
- Budget management experience for photography projects
- Knowledge of copyright, releases, and intellectual property compliance
- Strong written and verbal communication and ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
