The Role
Description
If you're a data-driven strategist energized by solving customer problems, spotting opportunities, and turning big ideas into real impact, you might be the perfect fit! The Independent Agent Distribution team is looking for a Product Owner to help deliver the next generation of Q&I sales experiences to our IA partners.
In this role, you'll own part of the new Q&I sales platform used by thousands of independent agents - defining, optimizing, and expanding the experience over time. You'll bring a strong customer-first mindset, balancing qualitative insights and quantitative data to guide decisions, shape product vision, and drive incremental delivery.
You'll join the Independent Agent Distribution team, where we're focused on creating a best-in-class sales experience that delights agents, drives new business, and sets a new market standard. As a Product Owner, you'll partner cross-functionally to develop journey maps, define OKRs, and gather feedback that informs your roadmap. In this role, you'll focus on runway and lead part of the portfolio dedicated to building global patterns that improve scale and efficiency across the experience.

Key responsibilities
  • Define and communicate product vision and strategy for your scope of the sales experience, aligned to portfolio and organizational priorities.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog; write clear, testable user stories and acceptance criteria that enable engineering to deliver business value.
  • Translate customer problems and business objectives into actionable work, focusing the squad on the highest-value outcomes.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement across business, technology, and executive leadership to set expectations for timelines, capabilities, and trade-offs.

  • Strong strategy and visioning: To become independent agents' carrier system of choice, you dream big and act boldly by listening to agents, incorporating business objectives, and articulating a clear strategy.
  • Curiosity and tenacity: You deeply understand opportunities and rally cross-functional teams to execute.
  • Analytical foundation: Data informs and supports your work, and you recognize that a data-driven mindset is imperative to identify and solving problems at scale.
  • Comfort in ambiguity: You are a self-starter and a leader, impacting outcomes through collaboration.
  • Stakeholder management: You are a strong storyteller with the ability to influence both executive and technical audiences.

Qualifications
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as typically acquired through a Bachelors` degree in relevant field (business, computer science, humanities etc.) and a minimum of 3 to 5 years direct experience with agile teams as well as 7 years in business, technology, or consulting.
  • Able to depict and explain the importance of complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; educate SBU/department(s) on business vision and plan and the impact of change.
  • Able to influence a diverse group of stakeholders; strong leadership skills.
  • Able to make difficult and quick decisions daily.
  • Strong problem solver with demonstrated ability to lead a team to push the solutions and progress.
  • Experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of relevant products and portfolio preferred.
  • Strong experimental mindset to drive innovation amongst uncertainty.

Pay Philosophy: The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.
