The Opportunity
Loadlink Technologies is looking for a Principal Software Engineer to join our engineering team. With over 7,500 customers across Canada and ambitious expansion plans, we move over 50,000 loads a day and sit at the center of Canada's largest industry — transportation. Our platform gets goods to the stores, malls, and doorsteps of consumers and businesses across the country, and we need world-class engineering to keep raising the bar.
The Principal Software Engineer is a senior, hands-on technical leader who sets architectural direction, mentors engineers and architects across our geographically distributed teams, and drives initiatives that span product and organizational boundaries. You'll split your time between writing and reviewing code, shaping technical strategy, and partnering with Product, Operations, and other engineering leaders to ship durable, scalable solutions.
Our stack spans .NET Core / C# and Angular, running on Azure, with SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL for data, REST/JSON APIs, and native mobile apps on iOS and Android. We work in an agile environment with modern DevOps practices built around Git-based workflows.
You Are Someone Who
- Demonstrates pride, ownership, and accountability for your work, and expects the same from those you work with
- Shares opinions openly on what's working and what's not across the product, tech stack, and team processes
- Is comfortable independently owning large, ambiguous initiatives with multiple moving parts
- Seeks feedback early and often throughout the development process
- Collaborates effectively and empathetically across roles such as Product, Design, and Operations
- Identifies speed vs. quality tradeoffs and balances them judiciously
- Believes diverse teams make better decisions, and actively fosters a culture where every person can do their best work
What You'll Do
- Establish architectural vision and set implementation strategy in partnership with the VP of Technology and Product team
- Work across the stack — from Angular front ends to .NET Core services to the databases underneath — and stay hands-on, including in POC scenarios
- Design and develop REST APIs and other code that is reliable, maintainable, and extendable
- Establish and enforce architecture guidelines, and keep architecture documentation current
- Participate in design and code reviews, and provide development teams with architectural oversight
- Translate business needs into technical specifications, and evaluate how requirements affect schedule and design
- Contribute to ideation, estimation, SOW creation, and product roadmap development
- Work with engineers, product owners, and other technology leaders to deliver integrated solutions
- Bring a continuous improvement mindset, always looking for opportunities to optimize our products, technologies, and processes
- Champion the adoption of AI tools and practices across the SDLC — code generation, review, testing, and documentation — to improve engineering velocity and quality
- Identify and drive opportunities to embed AI capabilities directly into our product offerings, partnering with Product on use cases that create customer value
The Skills and Experience You'll Bring
- 12+ years of professional software development experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production systems
- A track record of architecting SaaS enterprise applications
- Background driving broad product or technical initiatives that span organizational boundaries
- Deep knowledge of architectural frameworks and patterns (Onion, DDD, Clean, SOLID)
- Backend expertise in .NET Core / C#, and front-end expertise in Angular (preferred)
- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- API development experience (REST/JSON preferred)
- Experience with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and release management practices
- Proficiency with DevOps practices and tools
- A working knowledge of application security and performance tuning / scalability
- Hands-on experience using AI-assisted development tools (e.g. Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, OpenAI) to accelerate coding, review, and testing workflows
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Technology, or equivalent experience
We'd Be Extra Excited If
- You have deep experience across at least two areas of the tech stack (backend, frontend, infrastructure, data, mobile)
- You have consulting or professional services experience, including SOW creation and partner engagements
- You have experience with mobile technologies (iOS, Android)
- You've worked with distributed, cross-geography engineering teams
- You've led or contributed to integrating LLMs or AI/ML capabilities into a production SaaS application
