About Formance
Formance builds open-source ledger infrastructure for companies that move money across fiat, crypto and payment rails. Engineering teams use it to track, route and reconcile funds without building their own ledger from scratch.
We are a team of about 30 people across New York and Europe. We went through Y Combinator (S21) and raised a $21M Series A led by PayPal Ventures in 2025.
Why join us
Hard, interesting problems. Our customers move money at scale. You will help their engineering teams design how funds flow through their systems, and see the inside of fintechs, payment companies and crypto platforms.
Real impact on revenue. You will be one of a small group of Solutions Engineers in the US. Your demos and POCs will directly decide whether we win deals.
Room to shape the role. There is no fixed playbook. You will help define how we run discovery, demos and POCs, and build the tools the team uses.
A global team. You will work closely with our engineering team in Europe, with regular trips to Paris.
Why this role exists
Our buyers are engineers. CTOs and Staff Engineers decide whether Formance is credible, and they want to talk to someone who has built systems like theirs. Our US team is growing, and we need a Solutions Engineer who owns the technical side of every deal, from first discovery call to signature.
What you will do
Partner with our Account Executives on US deals.
Lead technical discovery with CTOs, engineering teams and finance stakeholders.
Build and run custom demos based on each prospect's flows of funds.
Scope and run POCs with clear success criteria and an end date.
Answer security questionnaires and architecture reviews.
Design the first version of the prospect's model: accounts, transactions and edge cases (refunds, reversals, disputes).
Build tools, templates and demo environments that make the team faster.
You will report to our Head of Revenue in New York and work closely with our CTO and our existing Solutions Engineers.
What we are looking for
3+ years of experience as a Solutions Engineer or Software Engineer.
Hands-on with APIs and data modeling, with solid knowledge of databases. You can write code and call an API yourself.
Experience in fintech, payments, crypto or developer infrastructure.
You want to be in front of customers, and you chose pre-sales on purpose.
You explain complex systems simply, and you never overpromise.
Based in New York and authorized to work in the US.
Nice to have
Pre-sales experience at a developer or fintech infrastructure company.
Experience with ledgers, double-entry, reconciliation or accounting systems.
Experience with Kubernetes or self-hosted infrastructure reviews.
You use AI to build, and you know what to check by hand.
What to expect
This role is hands-on. There is no fixed playbook: you will shape how we run discovery, demos and POCs. You will learn how money moves inside the companies we work with, and your work will directly impact revenue.
What we offer
Base salary: $136,000 + $34,000 on-target bonus ($170,000 OTE).
Stock options.
Regular trips to Europe to work with our product and engineering teams.
Direct exposure to our founders and to engineering leaders at our customers.
Hybrid work from our New York office.

Formance Insights
What We Do
Formance builds the financial infrastructure for the hybrid economy: the world where money moves across fiat, crypto, and every payment rail in between. We're a YC S21 company backed by over $21M in total funding, including a Series A led by PayPal Ventures and Portage. Our open-source ledger gives digital asset companies, vertical SaaS platforms, and regulated financial institutions the speed, flexibility, and compliance-grade trust they need to build money movement products without compromise. Customers include leading crypto exchanges, neobanks, payment platforms, and fintech infrastructure companies: 20+ customers today, ~60% of them regulated entities (EMI, MTL, banking charters). We're SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001, and DORA compliant.
Why Work With Us
Sell into crypto exchanges, neobanks, and payment platforms where fintech meets crypto/fiat. Our real competitor is "build it in-house" - our open-source ledger is the bridge. Organic pipeline, ~$100K ACV, backed by PayPal Ventures & Portage. Small team, direct founder access, join as we scale!
