These platforms support more than 150 airlines, hundreds of websites, airports, and hotel properties worldwide, processing high volumes of transactions with consistently low response times.
The Database-as-a-Service (DBaaS) team provides a secure, self-service, and cost-effective database platform for Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), MariaDB, and Oracle technologies. The team manages the full database lifecycle, including automation, security and compliance, tooling, and operations, within a highly available enterprise environment. The team operates within a global, follow-the-sun support model with colleagues located in Bogota and the United States, enabling shared ownership and continuous coverage.
Summary of the RoleThe Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL) Database Administrator supports the database operations team in the implementation, configuration, security, maintenance, and performance monitoring of the Amadeus database tier. The role focuses on ensuring the availability, reliability, and performance of enterprise applications using MSSQL technologies.
You will collaborate closely with Development, Product, and Architecture teams to deliver applications with a strong emphasis on quality, stability, and performance.
In This Role You WillPlan, document, install, configure, and maintain database servers in alignment with current security standards, including high availability, fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and multi-site configurations where required.
Design, automate, monitor, and validate backup and restore solutions to ensure data integrity and recoverability.
Build and maintain monitoring solutions for large-scale database environments, including databases in the multi-terabyte range across multiple platforms.
Support databases throughout the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), from development environments through to critical production systems.
Contribute to platform standards, operational procedures, and provide structured support for complex troubleshooting and performance optimization.
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or equivalent practical experience.
Demonstrated experience managing Microsoft SQL Server technologies (2016–2022), including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and Azure Data Factory (ADF), within a highly available enterprise environment.
Ability to analyze complex database performance or technical issues and identify effective solutions.
Experience planning and executing maintenance activities such as upgrades, patching, and failovers.
Proficiency in scripting and automation techniques, with demonstrated knowledge of database tuning tools.
Working knowledge of Windows operating systems, storage technologies, capacity management concepts, and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe). Experience with Azure, other cloud providers, or additional data stores (e.g., MySQL, MariaDB, Oracle 19c+, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Couchbase) is beneficial.
Professional proficiency in English for collaboration and documentation.
