The Database‑as‑a‑Service (DBaaS) team provides a secure, self‑service, and cost‑effective database platform for SQL and NoSQL technologies, including Couchbase, MongoDB, Elasticsearch, Microsoft SQL Server (MSSQL), MariaDB, and Oracle. The team manages the full database lifecycle—from automation and tooling to security, compliance, and operations—within a highly available enterprise environment. The team operates in a global, follow‑the‑sun model with colleagues located in Bangalore, Bogota, Europe, and the United States.
Summary of the RoleAs a Platform Engineering Engineer 3, you will design, operate, and evolve modern Couchbase database platforms hosted on‑premises and, increasingly, in Microsoft Azure. This role focuses on automation, cloud‑ready infrastructure, and reliable database operations that support critical business services.
You will contribute to or lead end‑to‑end technical solutions, collaborate across project and platform teams, and work independently on complex topics while receiving guidance on broader technical strategies.
Your Main ResponsibilitiesDesign, deploy, and operate Couchbase clusters across on‑premises and cloud environments, ensuring performance, reliability, and security.
Develop, test, and document automation components using configuration management, Infrastructure as Code, and application programming interfaces (APIs).
Build and operate containerized solutions using Kubernetes and Docker to support scalable database services.
Participate in incident investigation, troubleshooting, and shared on‑call support using well‑defined operational processes.
Continuously improve platform capabilities by following technology trends and contributing enhancements to the engineering community.
Relevant professional experience in platform engineering, database operations, or DevOps roles, with strong exposure to Couchbase technologies.
Experience working with Linux operating systems (e.g., Red Hat distributions) and infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and Ansible.
Familiarity with scripting and automation using languages such as Python and shell scripting, as well as version control and continuous integration tools (Git, Jenkins).
Experience with one or more cloud providers (Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or OpenStack) and container platforms such as Kubernetes or OpenShift.
Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multicultural, cross‑functional environments.
