Job Title
You will design, operate, and improve Azure and on‑premises virtualization platforms that host business‑critical workloads. Your work will focus on governance, automation, reliability, and security across Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and data center virtualization.
Azure governance and operations: Manage Azure Landing Zones across Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and Platform as a Service (PaaS); administer Resource Groups (including tagging, lifecycle, and cost governance); configure Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, firewalls, routing, hybrid connectivity; and apply Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) with least‑privilege policies.
Virtualization platforms at scale: Operate large vSphere 7–8 environments (multiple vCenters, 100+ ESXi hosts on Dell and Nutanix, VMware NSX, ~1000 virtual machines), plus Proxmox Virtual Environment (VE), Azure Local / Azure Stack Hyper‑Converged Infrastructure (HCI), and Red Hat OpenShift Virtualization; provide L3 (Level 3) engineering, capacity/performance monitoring (e.g., Log Insight, vRealize Operations), and security compliance.
Automation, GitOps, and monitoring: Use Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Git‑based workflows for Resource Group and Identity and Access Management (IAM) changes (e.g., RBAC assignments, role definitions, access reviews), maintain audit/compliance updates in repositories, and enhance Azure monitoring and logging.
Reliability and migrations: Maintain platform stability through preventative maintenance and observability; support migrations and re‑platforming across VMware, Proxmox, Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI, and OpenShift; optimize performance and resource allocation.
Service delivery and design: Handle incidents and service requests; create technical proposals and recommendations; contribute to future platform designs and continuous improvement.
Required: Practical experience with VMware vSphere 7/8 (including VMware NSX; familiarity with vSAN is a plus), operating at enterprise scale.
Hands‑on experience administering Azure governance (Resource Groups, policies, tagging), identity and access (RBAC, service principals), and hybrid networking; able to expand acronyms and concepts for diverse audiences.
Applied experience with Proxmox VE (clustering, high availability, Ceph or ZFS), Azure Local / Azure Stack HCI (Arc‑enabled management, governance, hybrid identity), and Red Hat OpenShift (cluster administration, Operator lifecycle, Software‑Defined Networking / Open Virtual Network).
Proficiency with Command Line Interface (CLI) and automation tools (e.g., ESXi CLI/PowerCLI, Proxmox shell, oc for OpenShift, Azure PowerShell/CLI); experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and GitOps workflows (forks, pull requests; avoid direct commits to the main branch).
Helpful certifications (not required): Microsoft Azure Fundamentals (AZ‑900) or Microsoft Azure Administrator (AZ‑104); VMware VCP; Linux certification; plus solid problem‑solving in diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance tuning.
