As the Senior Manager, Category Management, you'll be responsible for developing and executing the sourcing strategy for various categories in support of XPO Logistics; working within the defined Strategic Sourcing strategy & guidance to organize; complete moderately to highly complex sourcing of products and services, and conducting moderately to highly complex market research and performs analyses to ensure best value, lowest total cost of ownership, and internal customer satisfaction is realized by the organization; and ensuring efficient transition of completed sourcing events to the Supplier Relationship Management team (SRM) for contract implementation.

What you'll do on a typical day:

  • Partner with stakeholders to draft category plans in alignment with the strategic goals and direction of the Senior Director, Strategic Sourcing
  • Complete moderately to highly complex analyses for assigned projects and identify category area business and product trends
  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the fuel departments and supervision of the fuel department personnel.
  • Define sourcing specifications and cost reduction objectives, implement negotiation strategies, and identify high impact sourcing-related solutions to meet/exceed business objectives
  • Conduct requests for proposal, requests for information, requests for quotes and reverse auctions as required (all RFxs) through use of strategic sourcing platform tools
  • Lead/facilitate sourcing projects through the full project lifecycle while managing and mitigating risk
  • Utilize lean concepts to drive process improvement and cost reductions without compromising business strategies and/or quality
  • Act as a corporate liaison to current and potential suppliers and business owners in support of XPO Logistics' strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Assist in the development of company and department standards and manage within those as well as applicable laws to ensure ethical negotiation and to preserve procurement reputation of XPO Logistics


What you need to succeed at XPO:

At a minimum, you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 5 years of experience in procurement, leadership, or equivalent


It'd be great if you also have experience:

  • Master's in business administration (MBA) or MS
  • 3-5 years of experience in service agreements highly preferred
  • Managing +100 contracts with a total value of $200M
  • Managing +100 vendor relationships with $250M spend
