Position Summary (Why this role matters):

NPI Sourcing Manager to serve as the primary supply chain partner for New Product Introduction (NPI) and Research & Development initiatives. In this highly cross-functional role, you will own sourcing strategy and supplier engagement from concept through production release, ensuring component availability, cost competitiveness, and supply continuity for our fastest-moving programs. 

Key Responsibilities (What you’ll do):

  • Lead supplier sourcing and qualification activities for new components, subassemblies, and finished goods in accordance with ISO 13485 and FDA requirements.
  • Partner with Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) to execute supplier audits, first article inspections (FAIs), and qualification testing.
  • Negotiate pricing, lead times, tooling costs, NREs, and supply agreements with prototype and production suppliers; establish favorable commercial terms early in the product lifecycle.
  • Partner closely with engineering, program management, quality, and operations to support design reviews, material readiness, and schedule adherence across all active R&D programs.
  • Develop should-cost models, track component cost targets, identify supply risks (single-source, long-lead, allocation), and implement dual-source or alternate-part strategies to protect program timelines.
  • Manage prototype and sample procurement including purchase order creation, expediting, and delivery tracking to support aggressive R&D build schedules and engineering evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain strategic supplier relationships across PCBAs, mechanical, electrical, and custom-fabricated components; conduct business reviews and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Own the supply chain handoff from NPI to volume production, including BOM cleanliness, lead time alignment, safety stock strategy, and documentation required for ERP system setup. 

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business administration, finance or engineering 
  • 8+ years in strategic buying or commodity management
  • Experience in medical devices.
  • Hands-on NPI / product launch experience
  • Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar)
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills
  • Familiarity with BOM and ECO management
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority programs simultaneously
  • Familiarity with DFM / DFX reviews
  • Commodity experience in electronics or precision machining
  • Experience supporting overseas contract manufacturers

Skills Required
