KRQE Media Group in Albuquerque is looking for a creative, curious News Producer who knows how to identify the stories that matter, build a strong newscast, and deliver information viewers can trust.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Produces and executes newscasts for broadcast across all platforms
Writes, selects and orders news stories to create compelling, well-paced newscasts
Writes and approves scripts for accuracy, clarity, grammar and journalistic standards
Exercises strong editorial judgment in determining story placement, emphasis and coverage
Balances breaking news, daily news and feature content to create engaging broadcasts
Responds quickly to breaking news and adjusts rundowns and content as stories develop
Coordinates with anchors, reporters, photographers, editors and newsroom leadership throughout the production process
Communicates clearly with the production team before and during live newscasts
Times newscasts and makes real-time adjustments to ensure programs end on time
Identifies opportunities for live coverage, reporter involvement, graphics, video and other production elements
Edits video and other content as needed
Ensures content meets company standards for journalistic integrity, accuracy and production quality
Writes and publishes stories for the station’s website and other digital platforms
Interacts with viewers and users through social media platforms
Contributes story ideas and participates in editorial discussions and newsroom planning
Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements & Skills:
Journalism degree, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience
Fluency in English
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Minimum two years’ experience in news operations
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Flexibility to work any shift
