Overview

Assists in engineering projects by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Demonstrates practical experience designing HVAC and mechanical systems, including load calculations, equipment selection and sizing, ductwork and piping design, controls coordination, and application of applicable mechanical, energy, and ventilation codes.
  • Performs increasingly complex engineering assignments using standard engineering principles, techniques, procedures, and independent judgment. Assignments include more variables and require greater responsibility than those assigned to Level I and II Engineers.
  • Designs routine projects and portions of more complex, non-routine projects under the direction of a Project Engineer or other senior technical staff.
  • Prepares reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, cost estimates, and permit documents under the direction of the Group leader or other senior-level engineer.
  • Produces routine final drawings and models using the latest version of Revit and, as required, AutoCAD.
  • Researches discipline-related code requirements and presents interpretations and recommendations.
  • Visits construction sites and attends site meetings to review, monitor, and report construction progress. Performs construction administration duties, including shop drawing reviews, responses to RFIs, preparation of supplemental instructions or proposal requests, and status reports.
  • Must be proficient in the use of:
    •    Microsoft Windows, Excel and Word
    •    Revit
    •    AutoCAD
    •    Trane Trace Pus 3D or Trane Trace Load 700
    •    Trane Trace Energy Modeling Software or EQUEST
    •    Florida Energy Code – FLACOM
    •    Miscellaneous mechanical system and product selection and sizing software
  • Instructs drafters and designers to produce designs into coordinated working drawings.
  • Checks one’s own work and reviews work prepared by drafters and designers for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project requirements.
  • Coordinates mechanical drawings and specifications with all applicable project disciplines.
  • Assists in preparing design budgets, marketing proposals and project cost estimates.
  • Assists with client communication and coordination pertaining to assigned projects.
  • Promotes communication, cooperation and quality among team members.
  • Represents the firm in a professional manner.
  • Performs energy analyses (energy modeling) for a wide range of projects, especially for all BRPH LEED projects.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university, and
  • Minimum of two years experience as a mechanical engineer


Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Possess a certificate of Engineering Intern

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
