The Role
Lead mechanical design engineer responsible for conceptual through detailed design and fabrication of aerospace test equipment (test cells, stands, fixtures). Lead multidisciplinary teams, perform advanced CAD, FEA, drawing interpretation (ASME Y14), DFM, and manage PDR/CDR reviews, milestone compliance, and integration with Honeywell Aerospace teams to deliver safe, reliable test solutions.

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to use advanced mechanical design expertise on complex components for aerospace gas turbine engines and power generation systems. The systems support a wide range of commercial and military platforms. 

This position is responsible for performing and supporting activities associated with development, design and fabrication of test equipment for E&PS Product line. A Lead test engineer coordinates efforts of a large team of designers and muti-discipline teams to develop and integrate a safe, optimal, and reliable test solution for our customers.  Imagine, design, and develop but not limited to test cells, test stands, and special test equipment as part of a highly engaged and integrated engineering team. 


Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

  • Advanced Computer Aid Design (CAD)
  • Advanced drawing interpretation, ASME Y14 series
  • Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Lead Conceptual Design, Preliminary Design and Detailed Design phases.
  • Lead Designer for Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews (PDR/CDR)
  • Design for Manufacturing and cost estimation
  • Identify client Critical To Quality (CTQ)
  • Milestone compliance
  • Collaboration across Honeywell Aerospace engineering teams to create solutions and systems that meet the evolving needs of our customers.  
Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Engineering master’s degree is a plus
  • 10+ years of mechanical design engineering experience. 
  • US Person 

WE VALUE:

  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing 
  • Experienced Designing Fixtures to support Testing Phase
  • Experienced in Layout Design for Test Facilities 
  • Experienced in fabrication processes, welding, machining, grinding, assembly, etc.
  • Familiar with Fire, Pressure and vibration tests
  • Self-motivated and able to work with little supervision, consistently takes initiative to get things done
  • Strong technical, analytical, organizational, problem solving and people skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills are needed to help keep track of multiple tasks and priorities. 
  • Proficient technical report writing and presentation skills.
