Skillsoft is seeking an adaptive, innovative experienced Software Engineering Manager who excels in dynamic product environments, possesses a genuine interest in AI-native development, and has a proven ability to build and mentor top-tier engineering teams during periods of rapid, as we look to build out our new next-generation LX Studio AI-native course designer and suite of technologies. Responsibilities 

  • Translates functional plans into operational delivery processes; guides cross-functional pods through ambiguity with up to one-year delivery impact. 
  • Champions spec-first development as a force multiplier; helps engineers write sharper specs, makes planning the starting point for ambitious work, and uses metrics to surface signal and unblock the team. 
  • Applies AI-assisted code review as the default; scopes human review to security, data access, financial flows, and architectural decisions. 
  • Clearly communicate across engineering, product, and external stakeholders; able to drive cross-squad alignment on shared ownership and review SLAs. 
  • Partners with customers, product, design, and GTM to translate real user problems into shipped features and stays close to adoption and feedback after release. 

Skills & Experience Required

  • 8+ years of Software Engineering experience with 2+ managing professional engineers; runs spec, architecture, and release-readiness checkpoints as delivery gates, not ceremonies with a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Software Engineering.
  • Proficient in modern web frameworks, our stack includes React, GraphQL Node.js and Postgres 
  • Practiced with spec-driven, AI-native development using Claude or equivalent; daily workflow includes spec writing, PR review, test generation, and regression sweeps. 
  • Fluent in AI evaluations as a discipline; designs eval sets for generation quality, tracks metrics across model and prompt changes, and uses regression results to gate releases and inform product decisions. 
  • Familiar with LangGraph (or similar) agentic architecture: harness engineering, async job queues (RabbitMQ), SSE streaming, and S3 + Postgres content persistence. 

Preferred Experience

  • Built or shipped products with AI-generated media pipelines — TTS narration, AI video generation, or multi-modal content production similar to Spark's podcast/video workflow. 
  • Background in authoring tool platforms or e-learning content publishing pipelines (SCORM, xAPI, CP pipeline).
