Position Overview
Applied Systems, Inc. is currently searching for an experienced Software Engineering Manager with proven expertise in Angular, .NET, Cloud Technologies, and Engineering Leadership to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in driving the engineering strategy, leading high-performing development teams, and delivering scalable enterprise solutions. You will provide technical leadership, drive engineering excellence, mentor developers, and partner with cross-functional stakeholders to build modern, cloud-enabled applications that support business growth and innovation.
Required Skills:
Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers through coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Own planning, estimation, prioritization, and delivery tracking while aligning with business priorities and leadership expectations.
• Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Partner with Product Managers, Architects, QA, and DevOps teams to ensure successful solution delivery.
• Enforce engineering standards for code quality, security, testing, documentation, and release readiness.
• Champion adoption of AI-assisted engineering practices and modern development tools across the team.

Application Development & Architecture

• Lead the design, development, and delivery of enterprise-grade applications using Angular and .NET technologies.
• Provide technical leadership for full-stack application development, modernization, and cloud migration initiatives.
• Drive architectural decisions and ensure solutions are scalable, secure, resilient, and maintainable.
• Oversee the development of RESTful APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Guide teams in implementing best practices for design patterns, code reviews, and software craftsmanship.
• Collaborate with Solution Architects and stakeholders to define technical roadmaps and long-term platform strategies.

Cloud & DevOps

• Support and drive adoption of Microsoft Azure technologies and cloud-native development practices.
• Partner with engineering teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automation strategies.
• Promote Infrastructure as Code (IaC), monitoring, observability, and operational excellence.
• Ensure reliability, availability, and performance of applications through proactive engineering practices.
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Strategic Leadership

• Translate business objectives into scalable technology solutions.
• Collaborate with business and technology leaders to prioritize initiatives and remove delivery roadblocks.
• Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies, frameworks, and engineering practices.
• Drive modernization efforts focused on cloud adoption, automation, performance optimization, and developer productivity.
• Influence organizational engineering standards and foster innovation across teams.

We're Excited to Learn More About You

• 10+ years of software engineering experience with enterprise application development.
• 3+ years of experience leading and managing software engineering teams.
• Strong hands-on experience with Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
• Extensive experience with C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core/.NET 8, and Web API development.
• Experience designing and developing scalable distributed systems and microservices architectures.
• Strong knowledge of software architecture patterns, object-oriented design principles, and secure coding practices.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure services and cloud-native application development.
• Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server, database design, and performance optimization.
• Experience working within Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Proven ability to lead technical discussions and influence engineering decisions across teams.
• Strong execution habits, with the ability to manage priorities, timelines, risks, and dependencies effectively.
• A proactive mindset toward AI-assisted engineering and experience leveraging tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Claude, or similar technologies to improve engineering productivity.
