ROLE OVERVIEW
The Manager, Technical Consulting — Marketing Cloud Next leads a team of Technical Consultants and Sr Technical Consultants delivering enterprise-scale migrations from legacy marketing platforms (Eloqua, Marketo, HubSpot, legacy SFMC) to Salesforce Marketing Cloud Next and Salesforce Data Cloud. This role sits within Salesforce Professional Services' Global Delivery Centre (GDC) and is a 50% billable position — equally accountable for hands-on technical architecture delivery and people leadership of the Marketing Cloud Next migration track within the Migration Factory. As a trusted advisor to clients and a people-first leader within the CoE, you will drive high-quality, repeatable delivery across concurrent migration waves while growing a high-performing team of marketing technology migration specialists
RESPONSIBILITIES
People Leadership: Manage up to 15 direct reports (Sr Technical Consultants and Technical Consultants) across the Marketing Cloud Next migration track — responsible for hiring, onboarding, mentoring, performance management and career development.
Technical Delivery (50% Billable): Act as the hands-on Technical Architect for complex Marketing Cloud Next migration engagements — owning solution design, subscriber data architecture, journey migration blueprint, Data Cloud implementation design and cutover strategy.
Migration Factory Contribution: Drive the Marketing Cloud Next track within the Migration Factory — ensuring wave delivery adheres to factory standards, playbooks and accelerators, and that all team members follow the MDLC phase discipline.
Trusted Advisor: Serve as the senior technical point of contact for clients on Marketing Cloud Next migrations — building trusted relationships with client marketing operations leads, CDOs and Enterprise Architects.
Workshop Leadership: Lead and facilitate functional and technical discovery workshops, solution design reviews and cutover planning sessions with client stakeholders and internal delivery teams.
Solution Design Governance: Review and approve all Marketing Cloud Next solution design documents, data mapping artefacts and integration designs produced by the track team — ensuring compliance with factory standards and Salesforce best practices.
Data Architecture Oversight: Oversee the subscriber data migration strategy — including data extension schema design, consent record migration (GDPR/CAN-SPAM/CASL), suppression list architecture and Salesforce Data Cloud unified profile design.
Journey Migration Leadership: Guide the team in translating legacy marketing automation workflows, drip campaigns and triggered sends to Marketing Cloud Next Journey Builder — ensuring business logic equivalence is preserved.
Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage solution risks within the Marketing Cloud Next track — including subscriber key conflicts, deliverability degradation, consent compliance gaps and Data Cloud ingestion failures.
Practice Development: Drive internal initiatives to grow the Marketing Cloud Next migration practice — developing reusable playbooks, config accelerators, subscriber migration toolkits and AMPscript/SSJS template libraries.
Cross-track Collaboration: Work closely with Lead Architects, Integration Architects and Data Migration Architects across concurrent waves to align Marketing Cloud Next delivery with the broader migration programme dependencies.
Metrics & Outcomes: Own and report on team utilisation, delivery velocity, defect density, client satisfaction (CSAT) and wave throughput metrics for the Marketing Cloud Next track.
Hiring & Talent: Actively participate in hiring, interviewing and onboarding Marketing Cloud Next technical consultants — building pipeline of talent aligned to the Migration Factory's growth roadmap.
CORE TECHNICAL SKILLS — MUST HAVE
Marketing Cloud Next Platform: Advanced hands-on expertise in Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder, Mobile Studio and Contact Builder — with proven ability to lead complex migration deliveries.
Salesforce Data Cloud: Hands-on experience with Data Cloud — data stream configuration, identity resolution, unified profile design and segmentation activation to Marketing Cloud Next.
Subscriber Data Migration: Proven expertise migrating high-volume subscriber databases, data extensions, consent records and suppression lists with zero data loss and full compliance preservation.
Consent & Compliance: Expert knowledge of GDPR, CAN-SPAM, CASL — consent architecture design, preference centre migration and compliance-aligned subscriber data handling.
Integration Architecture: Understanding of Marketing Cloud Connect (CRM sync), REST/SOAP MC APIs, API-triggered sends and event-driven messaging integration patterns.
Data Architecture & Management: Strong understanding of subscriber data models, data extension architecture, sendable objects, contact counts and Large Data Volume (LDV) strategies for marketing platforms.
Platform Security: Knowledge of data encryption, field-level security and compliance protocols during subscriber data migration windows.
Sharing & Visibility: Understanding of how migrated subscriber and consent data will be secured and accessed post-deployment across business units and regions.
People Management: 5+ years of experience managing technical consulting or engineering teams — including performance management, career development, hiring and mentoring in a delivery-oriented environment.
