Maesa is currently seeking a passionate fragrance and product development expert with proven experience in beauty to join our innovation & incubation team. This role spearheads the strategy & development of new products from ideation to launch across multiple brands in our fragrance portfolio. It offers a unique opportunity for someone wanting to leave their mark in the industry by leading innovation & product development for fragrance brands.

The ideal candidate is a trend savvy product guru that can help define & steer innovation pipeline. This candidate is social savvy, obsessed with beauty products and brings a mix of creativity and love for data. This role will work closely with cross-functional teams including R&D, Supply Chain, Operations and the Go-To-Market brand team. This role is for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment with the ability to work both independently as well as collaboratively with key cross-functional stakeholders and leaders. 

The Manager role reports to the Senior Director of Brand Incubation & Product Innovation.   

This role is based in NYC and you will be expected in office 3 days a week.

Responsibilities  

  • Drive the creation and development of a variety of fragrance categories for a dynamic portfolio of global beauty brands and retailers
  • Oversee and manage all aspects of product development lifecycle both internally with cross-functional teams and externally with clients
  • Manage full turnkey development from creative concept through market launch and activation. This includes fragrance & formula development (briefing fragrance houses and labs), creative concept development, artwork management, creative design brief and internal design process, packaging selection, client management and competitive market analysis
  • A key part of the role is to be trend savvy and track industry trends to identify white space opportunities suitable for each unique account. Continually analyze marketplace activity to stay on the pulse of new launches
  • Cross-functional partnerships: this role works closely with the Sales team to manage client relations and the approval process; design studio and package development team on artwork process, including routing and proofreading; and with all internal cross-functional teams to manage and drive projects internally.
  • Potentially manage direct report on day-to-day functions while overseeing their growth and development plan
  • Utilize trends and data to build marketing stories and calendars that help drive innovation and growth for brands

Basic Qualifications  

  • Have a passion for beauty and a genuine LOVE for fragrance
  • 5+ years’ work experience in fragrance category; other experience from personal care or other beauty categories a bonus
  • Creative & strategic thinker; trend savvy mentality
  • Upbeat, positive attitude and energy
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and categories
  • Thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-moving environment

Additional Qualifications

  • Strong presentation skills; experience and comfort while presenting to clients at a senior level
  • Strong olfactive skills are a bonus
  • Packaging knowledge is a bonus
  • Ability to process NPD/ Nielsen data as needed
  • Ability to analyze retail sales as needed
  • Must be an advocate for making improvements when needed and actioning
  • Must be a teamplayer


What We Offer  

$100,000/yr - $120,000/yr. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This position is eligible for participation in a discretionary bonus plan based on individual and company performance.
