The Position
The Manager, Field Operations will work in tandem with the Development, Procurement, and Construction teams to manage Arevon's Third-Party Construction Supervision Resources (“3PCSR”). The Manager, Field Operations will report directly to the Sr. Director, Project Management and Construction and will be key in ensuring our third-party Construction Supervision resources are performing in Arevon’s interests to maintain project budgets and schedules for utility scale solar and battery energy storage systems. The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in renewable energy and education in a related field. They have a solid track record of construction and engineering supervision and enjoy working on a dynamic and diverse team. They possess the technical skills required and have a background in engineering or construction management. Strengths should include organization, scheduling, time management, active communication, and innovative problem solving. They desire the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues, thrive in an environment that requires flexibility and adaptation, and have a thirst for knowledge of the utility scale solar and battery energy storage industries.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety / Quality / Environmental: Ensure our 3PCSRs are enforcing and maintaining strict safety, environmental, and quality standards on BESS and utility scale solar project sites.
- Technical Oversight: Acting as a technical expert, oversee the permitting, procurement, construction, and commissioning of BESS and utility scale solar projects by Arevon’s EPCs. Be present for any critical site activities (setting of main power transformer, key equipment first article installation, etc.)
- Portfolio Coordination: Through a thorough understanding of Arevon’s contracts with 3PCSRs, ensure all 3PCSRs are being held to the provisions of their contracts, including timely issuance of deliverables, reporting, risk identification, active problem-solving, and project closeout. Ensure consistency of the above across Arevon’s active construction project portfolio.
- Project Coordination: Ensure Arevon’s 3PCSRs serve as the Arevon primary on-site point of contact, coordinating with Arevon’s EPCs, vendors, consultants, neighbors, off takers, interconnection utilities, and AHJs.
- Personnel Management: Review resumes for potential 3PCSR candidates and ensure all 3PCSR personnel are trained and held accountable for expectations of the role.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to keep the portfolio of active constructions projects on schedule and budget.
- Reporting: Provide weekly and monthly reports detailing progress toward active construction project goals.
- Continuous Improvement: Capture lessons learned and provide timely reporting of lessons learned to the Project Management and Construction Team. Review 3PCSR contracts and apply lessons learned / improvements to 3PCSR contracts and contract templates.
Required Qualifications
- Track record of working well within a team environment, taking ownership of processes and procedures.
- Enjoys solving real-world analytical problems.
- Self-motivated with ability to work independently.
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, Project, Outlook, etc.), PowerBI, Bluebeam, MS Project, Primavera P6.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize tasks effectively and work efficiently.
- Ability to interpret construction drawings and thorough understanding of prime contracts, subcontracts, and PO's.
- Travel: up to 75%.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4-year degree from an accredited university in engineering, mathematics, and computers. science, construction management, or similar discipline.
- 5+ years of experience in utility scale solar and BESS engineering, procurement, and construction.
