Overview

WPP Unite is the bespoke agency partnership powering Unilever’s marketing transformation across creative, media, data, and commerce. Embedded within Unilever’s Hoboken hub, this role will sit at the intersection of brand and retail, working shoulder to shoulder with cross-functional Unilever teams and WPP partners to bring digital commerce content to life with precision, speed, and scale.

This role is designed to deliver world-class digital commerce content strategy and operational excellence for one of the world’s most dynamic consumer goods portfolios. The Manager, Digital Content Specialist will lead end-to-end content planning, production, and delivery across Unilever’s Personal Care business, ensuring that brand storytelling and shopper conversion come together seamlessly across digital shelves and retail media environments.

The Manager, Digital Content Specialist will serve Unilever’s personal care division as an embedded resource to be the connective tissue across content strategy, creative, and delivery. This role ensures that the right assets are created, optimized, and deployed across key retailers and platforms, driving conversion, visibility, and brand consistency across the digital ecosystem.

An ideal candidate is equal parts strategist and operator: deeply familiar with digital shelf best practices, fluent in creative production processes, and relentless about delivering excellence on time and in full.


Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement digital commerce content strategies that align with Unilever’s Personal Care brand goals and drive measurable performance across retailers.
    • Translate brand marketing plans into actionable digital content briefs, partnering with brand, shopper, creative, and commerce media teams to ensure seamless execution.
    • Manage end-to-end content production cycles, from brief through asset delivery, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and specifications are met.
    • Oversee creative localization, adaptation, and optimization for key eCommerce platforms (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Instacart, Kroger, etc.).
    • Act as a central liaison between Unilever’s brand teams, WPP creative and media agencies, production partners, and eRetail platforms.
    • Ensure content excellence through rigorous adherence to platform best practices, SEO, and digital shelf standards.
    • Lead the implementation of new content management tools, processes, and measurement frameworks to improve efficiency and consistency.
    • Support the integration of AI-enabled tools for creative optimization, content tagging, and performance tracking.
    • Deliver regular performance reviews and best-practice playbooks to continuously enhance content quality and business impact.
    • Foster a culture of collaboration and innovation, championing the role of digital content in driving commerce growth.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or a related field.
    • 4+ years of experience in digital content management, eCommerce, or marketing operations (preferably within CPG or retail environments).
    • Proven track record of managing complex, multi-stakeholder content projects from concept to delivery.
    • Deep understanding of digital shelf fundamentals, retail content optimization, and eCommerce creative strategy.
    • Experience working across multiple platforms and retailers (Amazon, Walmart, Target, Instacart, etc.).
    • Familiarity with content management systems (CMS), project management tools, and creative production workflows.
    • Strong communication, organization, and stakeholder management skills.
    • Comfortable operating in a matrixed environment, balancing priorities across global, regional, and local teams.
    • Analytical mindset with the ability to translate content data into actionable insights.
    • Self-starter with a bias for action, collaboration, and problem-solving.

Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications.
