Job Summary

This role supports manufacturing and tool room operations by servicing, maintaining, and operating machining equipment to manufacture components as per specifications. The position requires the ability to interpret technical drawings, operate a range of machine tools, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and production standards. The role contributes to continuous improvement, equipment reliability, and efficient shop-floor operations while developing technical capability.

 

Key Responsibilities

Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Adhere to all HSE standards, policies, and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. 
  • Identify and report hazards, incidents, and unsafe conditions; take corrective actions within scope. 
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and promote a safety-first culture. 
  • Participate in safety training, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

Production & Operations

  • Operate machining equipment including CNC/VMC/HMC machines, lathes, milling machines, grinders, drill presses, and shapers. 
  • Support daily production targets and ensure adherence to process parameters, cycle times, and standard operating procedures (SOPs). 
  • Perform setup, layout work, and fabrication of components based on engineering drawings and specifications. 
  • Assist in line balancing and productivity improvement initiatives. 

Quality

  • Ensure high standards of workmanship and craftsmanship in all machining activities. 
  • Perform first-off and in-process inspections as per control plans. 
  • Use measuring instruments (e.g., vernier calipers, micrometers, bore gauges) to verify product quality. 
  • Support Right First Time (RFT) and defect reduction initiatives. 
  • Identify quality issues and collaborate with the quality team for root cause analysis and corrective actions. 

Machine & Tooling

  • Monitor machine health and perform basic troubleshooting. 
  • Support tool setting, offset corrections, and tool life monitoring. 
  • Coordinate with maintenance and tool room teams for breakdowns and preventive maintenance. 
  • Perform and document preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities. 

Continuous Improvement & TPM

  • Participate in Kaizen, Poka-Yoke, OEE improvement, and cost reduction initiatives. 
  • Identify and reduce manufacturing constraints and improve process efficiency. 
  • Actively contribute to Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities. 

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and downtime records. 
  • Support shift reporting, MIS updates, and documentation as per standards. 

Teamwork & Development

  • Collaborate effectively with team members, supervisors, and support functions. 
  • Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills. 
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and disciplined work environment (5S).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required 
  • Diploma in Mechanical / Production / Manufacturing Engineering preferred 
  • Relevant certifications or licenses may be required as per regulatory or export compliance 
Qualifications

Skills

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of CNC machining and manufacturing processes 
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T basics 
  • Familiarity with machining tolerances and inspection techniques 
  • Hands-on experience with measuring instruments (vernier, micrometer, bore gauge, basic CMM exposure) 
  • Understanding of cutting tools, materials, and machining fundamentals 
  • Basic troubleshooting and maintenance knowledge

Experience

  • Experience in quality inspection, maintenance support, or continuous improvement initiatives is an advantage
