The Senior Linux Engineer will be part of a team of technical experts responsible for managing and supporting global infrastructure and network services. This role provides senior-level technical expertise across Linux systems, networking, automation, and infrastructure operations while serving as an escalation point for complex technical issues.
The role will also contribute to infrastructure design, automation, system reliability, patching, monitoring, backup and disaster recovery, and the continuous improvement of infrastructure services.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage, maintain, and optimize the availability and performance of new and existing infrastructure.
- Lead and manage patching activities across Linux and Windows infrastructure.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve software, hardware, networking, and system issues across internal and client environments.
- Support system monitoring, redundancy, backup, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Develop and maintain infrastructure automation using tools such as Ansible, Packer, and Terraform.
- Automate system provisioning, configuration management, maintenance, and deployments.
- Support on-premises server infrastructure and virtualization environments.
- Work closely with System Engineering, Security, and Operations teams to ensure reliable and secure infrastructure services.
- Serve as a technical escalation point for Linux, infrastructure, and network-related issues.
- Document infrastructure configurations, processes, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Research and evaluate new technologies and solutions to improve infrastructure reliability and efficiency.
- Independently manage infrastructure projects from concept through completion.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of hands-on Linux system administration experience.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls.
- Hands-on experience with automation and configuration management, particularly Ansible, Packer, and/or Terraform.
- Strong scripting skills using Bash, Python, and PowerShell.
- Experience with centralized authentication, including LDAP and Active Directory.
- Experience with on-premises server deployment and virtualization technologies such as VMware, KVM, and MaaS.
- Experience using Git or other source control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills across systems, networking, and infrastructure.
- Ability to independently manage technical projects from concept to completion.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical teams and manage technical escalations.
- PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Windows Server administration.
- Hands-on experience with network and server hardware.
- Monitoring tools such as Nagios, Prometheus, and Grafana.
- Infrastructure and security best practices.
- CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket and Jenkins.
- Database administration, particularly MySQL, InfluxDB, and Prometheus.
- Knowledge of DevOps principles and practices.
- Experience working within Agile methodologies.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Should be willing to accept a long-term work-from-home arrangement.
- Should be amenable to a permanent night shift schedule.
Skills Required
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in Linux systems administration
- Strong experience with RHEL/CentOS and Ubuntu environments
- Intermediate proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and system tasks
- Solid understanding of TCP/IP, networking fundamentals, and OS-level troubleshooting
- Hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as Proxmox or KVM
- Experience configuring and managing Juniper vSRX or similar virtual firewall technologies
- Familiarity with multi-tenant environments and centralized policy management
- Experience working in monitored, ticket-based environments with structured incident handling
- ITIL awareness
- Strong written communication skills, particularly for technical documentation
- RHCSA or equivalent certification
- Networking or security certifications, such as CCNA or Juniper certifications
- Willingness to accept a long-term work-from-home arrangement
- Amenability to a permanent night shift schedule
