We are looking for an experienced Lead Front-End Engineer to own the technical direction and evolution of our enterprise Design System. The ideal candidate is a front-end specialist with deep expertise in modern web technologies, accessibility, and reusable component architecture.
This role is responsible for defining front-end engineering standards, governing the Design System, and enabling consistent adoption across multiple applications. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with designers, architects, product owners, and engineering teams while providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and driving engineering excellence.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Core Responsibilities:

  • Own the technical direction and evolution of the enterprise Design System

  • Design, develop, and maintain reusable, accessible UI components and front-end frameworks

  • Define and maintain front-end architecture, component APIs, design tokens, theming, and engineering best practices

  • Govern component lifecycle, versioning, release strategy, and backward compatibility

  • Drive Design System adoption through technical guidance, documentation, code reviews, and developer enablement

  • Champion accessibility by ensuring components comply with WCAG standards and accessibility best practices

  • Lead technical discussions, architecture reviews, and engineering decisions across front-end initiatives

  • Mentor engineers and foster engineering excellence through technical coaching and knowledge sharing

  • Engage with stakeholders across Engineering, Product, UX, and Architecture to align technical direction and deliver scalable solutions

  • Stay current with emerging front-end technologies, accessibility standards, and industry best practices

  • Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale enterprise front-end applications

  • Demonstrated success driving Design System adoption across multiple teams and applications

  • Experience working in Agile software development environments

Technical:

- Must Have:

  • Strong proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and TypeScript

  • Extensive experience with StencilJS, Web Components, Custom Elements, Shadow DOM, and component composition

  • Proven experience building and managing enterprise Design Systems or reusable component libraries

  • Strong understanding of design tokens, theming, semantic HTML, and WAI-ARIA

  • Expert knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and accessibility-first development

  • Hands-on experience using screen readers such as NVDA, JAWS, or VoiceOver for accessibility validation

  • Experience using axe-core and other accessibility testing tools

  • Experience working in Internationalization and Localization

  • Experience developing automated tests using Playwright (or equivalent) with accessibility integration

  • Experience working with Micro Front-End architecture and Module Federation

  • Experience collaborating with UX teams using Figma

  • Familiarity with modern monorepo and build tooling such as Nx, pnpm, Turborepo, or similar

- Desirable:

  • Experience leading front-end engineering initiatives or Design System teams

  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, release automation, and application lifecycle management

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and cloud-native deployment environments

  • Contributions to open-source Design Systems, Web Component libraries, or accessibility initiatives
