inKind is redefining what modern restaurant funding looks like.
The Role
Role Summary

As a Lead Accountant at inKind, you will play a critical role in strengthening the technical accounting, financial reporting, and accounting operations that support our continued growth.

This is a senior individual contributor role designed for an experienced accountant who combines a strong public accounting / Big 4 foundation with the ability to operate hands-on in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. You will serve as a technical accounting resource across the Finance organization, helping evaluate complex transactions, establish accounting treatment and policies, strengthen controls, and ensure our financial reporting remains accurate, scalable, and GAAP compliant.

You will work closely with the Controller and broader Finance team while partnering across Legal, Operations, Product, and other areas of the business. The ideal candidate can move comfortably between researching a complex accounting issue, preparing technical accounting documentation, reviewing financial statements, supporting an audit, and improving the underlying processes and systems that produce our financial information.

This is an opportunity to bring the rigor and technical foundation of public accounting into a growing fintech and hospitality technology business where you can have significant ownership and impact.

Who You Are
  • You have a strong foundation in technical accounting and U.S. GAAP, ideally developed within a Big 4 or other leading public accounting firm.
  • You enjoy solving complex accounting questions and can translate technical guidance into practical recommendations for the business.
  • You are comfortable operating as a senior individual contributor and taking ownership of complex accounting matters from research through implementation.
  • You combine technical rigor with commercial judgment and understand that accounting needs to support a rapidly evolving business.
  • You are highly analytical, process-oriented, and exceptionally detail-focused.
  • You are comfortable challenging existing processes and identifying opportunities to improve controls, reporting, systems, and automation.
  • You can communicate complex accounting concepts clearly to both Finance and non-Finance stakeholders.
  • You thrive in an environment where priorities evolve quickly and where you are expected to independently identify and solve problems.
Responsibilities / Essential Functions
  • Serve as a key technical accounting resource for the Finance organization, researching and evaluating complex accounting matters under U.S. GAAP.
  • Assess the accounting implications of new products, contracts, partnerships, financing arrangements, investments, acquisitions, and other complex or non-routine transactions.
  • Prepare clear, well-supported technical accounting memoranda and position papers, documenting conclusions and recommendations for management and external auditors.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve accounting policies and procedures as the organization and its products continue to scale.
  • Support the preparation and review of timely and accurate financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Lead and review complex areas of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring balances and transactions are appropriately recorded, supported, and reconciled.
  • Review general ledger activity and account reconciliations, investigate unusual or complex transactions, and ensure appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Partner with the Controller on complex accounting areas including revenue recognition, leases, equity and stock-based compensation, debt and financing arrangements, business combinations, consolidations, and other applicable accounting matters.
  • Play a key role in external audits, including preparing supporting documentation, responding to technical accounting questions, coordinating audit requests, and resolving issues with external auditors.
  • Strengthen the company's financial reporting environment through improved internal controls, documentation, reconciliation processes, and accounting procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate accounting workflows, reducing manual processes while increasing accuracy, consistency, and scalability.
  • Partner with FP&A and other Finance team members to ensure consistency between accounting results, management reporting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Operations, Product, Technology, and other teams to understand new business initiatives and proactively identify their accounting implications.
  • Provide technical accounting guidance and mentorship to other members of the Accounting and Finance team.
  • Support tax filings, financial due diligence, financing activities, and other strategic Finance initiatives as required.
  • Help build the accounting infrastructure, policies, and controls necessary to support inKind as the business continues to grow in scale and complexity.
Required Skills / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • CPA strongly preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including meaningful experience within a Big 4 or other nationally recognized public accounting firm.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. GAAP and experience researching and documenting complex accounting matters.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing technical accounting memoranda and supporting accounting conclusions with authoritative guidance.
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, general ledger accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting complex financial statement audits and working directly with external auditors.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate complex or unusual transactions and determine appropriate accounting treatment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to explain complex accounting concepts clearly.
  • Ability to operate independently, manage multiple priorities, and take ownership of work in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Skills / Qualifications
  • Big 4 audit or accounting advisory experience strongly preferred.
  • CPA with experience serving technology, fintech, financial services, marketplace, or other high-growth clients.
