Job Description
The role will be based on-site, at a customer in the pharmaceutical industry, in Stevenage, UK. The Lab Support Services Manager is responsible for the management of the Lab Services team, focusing on chemical management, materials management, and the central storage facility service. This leadership role is designed to provide supervisory support as well as drive process improvements and growth within the customer’s organization.
Job responsibilities:
Act as supervisor to team members and provide coaching, performance review, and other administrative functions.
Lead the lab services team to ensure the delivery of uninterrupted service to the customers in the lab. To accomplish this, the individual must drive operational excellence by strategically managing resources as well as identifying areas of improvent.
Interface with key customer contacts to ensure KIPs are being hit and customer satisfaction is at a high-level.
Identify areas of growth within the existing customer program and support outside activities to promote the overall expansion of the program as needed.
This is a working leadership role; therefore, it is important that the leader can perform all necessary functions of the lab services team as needed.
To work with customer and PerkinElmer staff to ensure quality and compliance within the laboratory.
o work in collaboration with customer line safety representatives to ensure a high level of safety is maintained.
Meet regularly with key stakeholders (lab staff, service providers, management) to identify, review and resolve issues in a timely manner and/or escalate as necessary.
To coordinate periodic review of service level agreement contracted tasks with all relevant groups (customer lines, management, etc.).
Responsible for the coordination of training.
Ability to travel regionally as required, up to 20%.
Maintain training and compliance in areas of health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.

Basic Qualifications:
A-level qualifications with 3+ years’ experience working in a laboratory environment

Experience in a customer facing role and the ability to provide excellent customer service
Knowledge of environmental health and safety practices

Working Environment:
Must be able to work in a laboratory, controlled environments requiring personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coat, safety glasses, etc.) in laboratory.
Must be able to remain in a stationary position more than 25% of the time
The person needs to occasionally move between labs, corridors, adjoining rooms, and buildings onsite
Employee may be required to handle hazardous waste according to local, state, and federal regulations. Duties may include identifying, handling, generating, accumulating, storing and labeling hazardous waste.
Potential risk to lab-based hazards including but not limited to extreme temperature, biological materials, and hazardous chemicals.
May be required to complete Medical Clearance, Respiratory Protection Training, and Fit Testing to wear a respirator as protection against hazards present in the laboratory environment.
