Fullstack developer with TypeScript

Schibsted Media's Video & Audio team develops the technology behind video, live streaming, podcasts and audio experiences across some of the largest news brands in the Nordics.

Our platform handles around 11 million video views and podcast listens every day, and during major live events, more than 100,000 people can be watching simultaneously.

As a developer in the team, you'll work on products and technology that are highly visible to our users, from the video experience on VG and Aftenposten to live streaming, podcasts and new AI-powered audio and video capabilities.

We own the video and audio experience end to end. This means you'll get the opportunity to work across both product development and the technology that makes everything run reliably at scale.

Depending on the project, you might be working on:

• Building and improving video and audio experiences for our users

• Developing services for publishing, playback, monetization and live streaming

• Working with VOD and LIVE video transcoding and large-scale media processing

• Improving how we process, enrich and use video and audio metadata

• Exploring AI capabilities such as speech to text and text to speech

• Building solutions that need to perform reliably during major breaking news and live events

• Working closely with our newsrooms and product teams to shape what we build next

As investments in content rights and video and audio production continue to grow, you'll also have the opportunity to influence how these products and platforms evolve across Schibsted Media.

Our platform powers experiences such as vgtv.no and the video and audio content available on vg.no and aftenposten.no.

You'll join a cross-functional team with nine frontend, backend and fullstack developers and an Engineering Manager in Kraków, working closely with a Product Manager, UX Designer and Data Analyst in Oslo.

We work across disciplines and locations, with engineers involved not only in implementation, but also in shaping solutions and deciding how our technology should evolve.

We're looking for a developer who enjoys solving real product and technical challenges and wants to work with systems operating at significant scale.

You should be comfortable working with Node.js and TypeScript. Experience across the full stack is valuable, but you don't need to know every technology we use from day one.

We care about building reliable and maintainable software and use practices such as unit testing, continuous integration and continuous delivery as part of our everyday development.

It would be great if you also have experience with, or an interest in, some of the following:

• Relational databases such as MySQL

• Redis or Elasticsearch

• AWS Media Services

• Video technologies such as HLS or FFmpeg

• Infrastructure and Kubernetes

• AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or other agentic coding tools

Experience with video technology is a plus, but you don't need to be a video expert when you join. What matters more is that you're curious, enjoy learning and want to build products that operate at scale.

You'll get to work on technology that millions of people interact with every day, while solving challenges ranging from user experience to distributed systems, live streaming, media processing and AI.

The team has access to significant computing capacity for VOD and LIVE video transcoding, various video equipment and colleagues with deep knowledge of the online video and audio space.

It's a role where you can both build products people see and use every day and dive into challenging technical problems behind the scenes.
