Position Summary:
Leidos is seeking an experienced IT Specialist to provide technical and operational information technology support for government and defense programs operating within classified environments. The selected candidate will support installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of IT systems, hardware, software, and networked environments supporting mission-critical operations.
This role supports the management of physical and virtual environments by implementing best practices for system performance, security, backup and recovery, storage allocation, and infrastructure optimization. Responsibilities include monitoring system operations, applying patches and updates, reviewing performance logs to identify anomalies, troubleshooting technical issues, and recommending system configurations and functional improvements to support operational and customer requirements.
This position requires strong technical expertise in enterprise IT support, systems administration, customer support, and secure computing environments. The ideal candidate will work closely with system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, network engineers, and operational teams to ensure reliable system performance, compliance with security requirements, and operational readiness across multiple technology platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot desktop systems, laptops, servers, peripherals, and enterprise IT equipment within classified and operational environments.
- Provide technical support and issue resolution for hardware, software, operating systems, applications, and network connectivity issues.
- Support user account management, system access requests, password management, and system administration activities.
- Monitor system performance and support implementation of patches, upgrades, software installations, and technology refresh activities.
- Maintain IT asset inventories, system documentation, configuration records, and technical support procedures.
- Coordinate with cybersecurity, network engineering, and systems administration teams to ensure compliance with security policies and operational requirements.
- Support implementation and maintenance of secure IT environments in accordance with government and organizational cybersecurity standards.
- Assist with system backups, data recovery, continuity of operations, and disaster recovery support activities.
- Support technical troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and resolution of system incidents and operational issues.
- Participate in system deployments, operational testing, customer support activities, and technical upgrade initiatives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of prior relevant experience or Master’s degree with 6+ years of prior relevant experience; additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Experience supporting enterprise IT systems, technical support operations, systems administration, or help desk activities within government or defense environments.
- Knowledge of Windows and/or Linux operating systems, enterprise IT infrastructure, networking fundamentals, and system administration practices.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, communication, and customer support skills.
- Active Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or classified operational environments.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies, cloud environments, enterprise collaboration platforms, and endpoint management tools.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices, DISA STIGs, RMF, and secure system configuration requirements.
- Experience with Active Directory, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, VMware, or enterprise IT management platforms.
- Professional certifications such as Security+, Network+, A+, Microsoft, Cisco, Linux, or related IT certifications.
