We are looking for an Innovation Scientist to join our team and develop innovative color solutions for the food industry. You will turn ideas into new formulations and help bring products from the lab to the market. You will work closely with customers and cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and create solutions that meet their needs. As a key member of the Sensient team, you will push boundaries, innovate, and work onsite in the office five days per week.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and optimize customized color formulations based on customer needs, product specifications, stability requirements, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead application and product development projects, including laboratory testing, stability studies, method development, troubleshooting, and product optimization.
  • Support the scale-up and initial production of new food color products, helping ensure successful transition from laboratory development to commercial production.
  • Collaborate with Technical, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, and other teams to develop innovative solutions and address complex customer and business challenges.
  • Evaluate market information, customer needs, and product performance to identify opportunities for new products and improvements to existing products.
  • Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to customers and internal stakeholders, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to other team members.
  • Travel as needed, including occasional short-notice and international travel, and work effectively both independently and in a collaborative team environment.

What You’ll Bring

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific field, with a strong chemistry focus preferred.
  • Three to four years of experience in formulation, product development, or new product development, preferably within the food, food ingredients, food color, or related industries.
  • Hands-on experience with formulation, laboratory testing, product optimization, stability testing, and product development.
  • Strong analytical, creative, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions and troubleshoot technical challenges.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to explain technical information and test results clearly.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently with minimal supervision, and collaborate effectively across different teams.
  • Intermediate English proficiency.
