AlertMedia is looking for an HR Operations & Payroll Specialist to join our growing People team in Mexico. This role will help build and manage the operational foundation of our Mexico People function, supporting payroll, benefits, HR systems, time and attendance, statutory compliance, employee lifecycle administration, and vendor coordination.

Reporting to the Regional HR Manager and partnering closely with Global HR Operations, Finance, Revenue Operations, Legal, and external providers, you will help ensure our People Operations processes are accurate, compliant, scalable, and deliver a great employee experience.

Who you are:

You are a detail-oriented and service-minded HR Operations professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex processes. You understand that great People Operations requires both accuracy and strong employee experience. You are comfortable working across payroll, benefits, systems, and vendors, and you know how to spot discrepancies, ask the right questions, follow through, and escalate when needed.

You thrive in a growing environment where not every process is fully built yet, and you are excited by the opportunity to help create, document, and improve the way we operate.

What you get to do every day:

  • Own the end-to-end payroll cycle including collecting, validating, and reporting payroll-impacting incidents, preparing pre-payroll inputs for review and approval, reviewing outputs and reconciling employee data, coordinating corrections with our payroll provider, and provide employee payroll and pay slip support.
  • Coordinate recurring Mexico payroll and social security requirements, including IMSS, INFONAVIT, FONACOT, SUA/SIPARE, PTU, aguinaldo, vacation premium, and related obligations.
  • Administer Mexico HRIS and employee records, including PTO, absences, schedules, time and attendance, and employee changes, and maintain complete, accurate, audit-ready documentation (including IMSS affiliation/AFIL records) to support recurring compliance and audit activities.
  • Manage day-to-day benefits administration, including Major Medical Insurance and meal vouchers, from enrollment and employee changes through ongoing vendor administration and new-hire onboarding.
  • Serve as the primary operational contact for Mexico HR vendors, including payroll, benefits, and meal voucher providers, tracking deliverables, deadlines, open items, and routine issue resolution.
  • Serve as a first-line HR Operations resource for Mexico employees and help document, simplify, and continuously improve People processes as the team grows.
  • Contribute to AlertMedia's culture and values by supporting the Regional HR Manager with the coordination and execution of Mexico employee experience initiatives, including Tuesday Lunch, team events, and other special activities.

What you bring to the role:

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in HR Operations, payroll administration, People Operations, or a related HR role in Mexico.
  • Hands-on experience supporting Mexican payroll and pre-payroll processes, ideally in partnership with an external payroll provider.
  • Working knowledge of Mexican payroll and social security requirements, including IMSS, INFONAVIT, FONACOT, SUA/SIPARE, PTU, aguinaldo, vacation premium, and related statutory obligations.
  • Experience administering HRIS, payroll, time and attendance, and/or benefits systems; Rippling experience is a plus.
  • Experience coordinating employee benefits and relationships with payroll, benefits, or other HR vendors is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a high degree of organization and follow-through, with the ability to manage recurring deadlines, identify discrepancies across systems and data, and effectively leverage AI tools to improve accuracy, efficiency, and processes.
  • A service-oriented approach to employee support and the discretion to handle confidential employee and payroll information appropriately.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in both Spanish and English, with the ability to collaborate effectively with teams and stakeholders across Mexico and the United States.
  • Accounting experience is a plus.

Location: This is a hybrid position (3 days a week) in our downtown Mexico City (Reforma area) offices.

Sponsorship: AlertMedia does not sponsor. Must have the legal right to work in Mexico without sponsorship now and in the future.
