Company Description

Mondiale VGL is a global logistics leader with deep roots in Oceania and operations spanning 19 markets worldwide.

For more than 40 years, we’ve been connecting people, places, and opportunities — moving freight smoothly and building lasting careers across New Zealand, Australia, Asia, Europe, and the USA.

Our end-to-end services cover every stage of the supply chain, from sea and air freight to customs clearance, wharf transport, and warehousing. This fully integrated approach helps our partners move goods efficiently across borders while powering their growth.

With a team of over 1,500 talented professionals, we bring together diverse perspectives and shared ambition. Our heritage has shaped who we are — a company built on reliability, innovation, and care — and it drives how we move forward.

Job Description

We are growing!! - This is a role for someone who's comfortable in the grey, energised by ambiguity, and ready to move between the detail of compliance and the big-picture thinking of process improvement.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Building real, day-to-day relationships with operations leaders across our Sydney warehouse and transport sites — providing HR support that's practical, commercially grounded, and actually useful on the floor
  • Living and breathing Awards and Enterprise Agreements — interpretation, compliance, and staying ahead of renewal so there are no nasty surprises
  • Giving frontline supervisors and team leaders the confidence to have the hard conversations around performance, conduct, and capability — and backing them up when it gets uncomfortable
  • Navigating the real complexities of a 24/7 blue-collar operation — rostering headaches, award interpretation, fatigue management, and all the grey areas that come with it
  • Supporting recruitment and retention in a market where good drivers and experienced warehouse staff don't stay on the shelf for long
  • Working shoulder-to-shoulder with the WHS team — because in a warehouse and transport environment, HR and safety aren't separate conversations
  • Handling grievances, disputes, and the occasional situation that no policy manual quite prepares you for — with calm, good judgement, and a straight-talking approach that earns respect on the floor

Qualifications

What We're Looking For

  • 5+ years of solid HRBP or senior HR generalist experience in an industrial or operations-heavy environment — freight, logistics, manufacturing, or warehousing backgrounds all welcome (bonus points if you've got the warehouse dust still under your fingernails)
  • Genuine working knowledge of Enterprise Agreements, the Fair Work Act, and relevant Modern Awards — if you can chat about Road Transport and Storage Services awards like they're your favourite podcast, even better.
  • Real confidence interpreting Awards and the National Employment Standards (NES) — you know the difference between what the legislation says and what it actually means on the warehouse floor
  • Proven experience owning projects and driving change management — you're the person who actually makes things happen, not just the one taking notes
  • A collaborative mindset — you genuinely enjoy working as part of a small, tight-knit team where everyone rolls up their sleeves
  • Strong relationship-building instincts — you earn trust through showing up consistently and delivering real solutions, not just hiding behind policy documents
  • Occasional travel 5-10%

We’re handling this hire in-house and aren’t engaging agencies for this position -Thank you

Skills Required

  • 5+ years HR Business Partner or senior HR generalist experience in freight, logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar operations-heavy environments
  • Practical working knowledge of Enterprise Agreements, the Fair Work Act, and relevant Modern Awards (e.g., Road Transport and Storage Services award)
  • Ability to confidently interpret Awards and the National Employment Standards (NES) and apply them on the warehouse floor
  • Proven experience owning projects and driving change management initiatives
  • Experience managing rostering, fatigue management, and other 24/7 blue-collar operational complexities
  • Experience handling grievances, disputes, performance management, and conduct matters
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills; comfortable advising frontline supervisors and leaders
  • Background in warehouse, transport, freight or manufacturing operations (hands-on experience is a plus)
  • Willingness to travel occasionally (5-10%)
