About the Role  

As an HR Business Partner, you will collaborate closely with the business to support our leaders and employees in living and breathing our Ford Operating System (FOS) Behaviours. Bringing genuine commercial curiosity and an authentic care for our people, you will delve deep into business operations to add value across the entire employee lifecycle. You will partner strategically with leaders to uplift capability, proactively anticipate future workforce skill needs, and advocate for an inclusive, high-performing culture that sets Ford up for sustainable, long-term success.

In this pivotal role, you will seamlessly balance strategic design with hands-on operational delivery—from navigating complex labour and employee relations matters to consulting on modern policy improvements. Embracing a "Ready for Anything" mindset, you will coach, empower, and build resilience across diverse teams as we navigate an exciting, rapid pace of transformation in the automotive industry.

This is a part-time position (4 days per week), reporting directly to the Product Development (PD) HR Manager and based at our IMG Product Development Hub in Broadmeadows on a hybrid work schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Business Partnering & Coaching: Act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, aligning people strategies with organisational goals. Coach and guide leaders on organisational design, workforce planning, and talent capability to drive high performance and navigate change. 
  • Labour & Employee Relations Management: Provide hands-on guidance on complex employee and industrial relations matters (including investigations, performance management, grievance handling, and disciplinary processes) in line with Australian employment law, established enterprise agreements and unionised site operating procedures. 
  • Workforce Capability: Partner collaboratively with People Leaders and Talent Acquisition to forecast future capability requirements, addressing skill gaps through targeted succession planning, retention strategies, and development programs. 
  • Workplace Culture & Inclusion: Champion our Ford Operating System (FOS) Behaviours, supporting leaders in building psychologically safe, high-performing, and inclusive team environments. 
  • HR Operations, Insights & Projects: Deliver core HR programs across the employee lifecycle. Leverage workforce data and metrics to identify trends, inform business decisions, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in collaboration with local and global HR teams.
Qualifications
  • Relevant Qualifications: Degree in Human Resource Management, Business, Industrial Relations, or a related field (or equivalent practical industry experience).
  • Core HR Generalist Foundation: 5+ years of progressive HR Business Partnering / Generalist experience across the end-to-end employee lifecycle in a fast-paced or technical environment. 
  • Strong Industrial & Labour Relations Background: Proven experience operating within unionised environments, with solid knowledge of Australian Employment Law, Modern Awards, and Enterprise Agreements. 
  • Policy & Consultation Expertise: Demonstrated success reviewing and refining people and culture policies with a collaborative, consultative approach to change management. 
  • Inclusion Champion: A genuine passion for fostering inclusive workplace practices and embedding equitable, transparent people processes. 
  • Executive Presence & Influence: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the confidence, gravitas, and emotional intelligence to build trusted relationships and challenge constructively up to executive levels. 
  • Site Mobility & Growth Mindset (Desirable): Openness and agility to rotate into other HR Business Partner positions across Ford’s Victorian site locations (e.g. Broadmeadows, Richmond, You Yangs Proving Ground, Geelong) to gain broad business exposure and accelerate your professional growth.

Skills Required
