The Role
Block is seeking a Head of Design to shape the strategic vision and execution of product design for TIDAL. This senior role will lead a talented team responsible for defining and delivering compelling visual and product experiences that empower artists to take control of their financial and creative futures. As a design leader, you'll drive both strategic direction and hands-on design excellence.
When you join Block Design, you become part of an organization encompassing the entire ecosystem of Block's brands. Design is a centralized function across Block that crafts every touchpoint of our customer experience. This role will report directly to the Chief Design Officer, collaborating broadly to ensure everything we do, the goals we set, and the values we uphold consistently serve our customers.
You Will

• Define and execute TIDAL's product design strategy, balancing hands-on design work with strategic leadership.
• Lead and mentor a nimble team of designers, fostering professional growth, creativity, and design excellence.
• Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver impactful, artist-centric experiences.
• Develop and evolve TIDAL's visual identity and brand expression, ensuring consistency across product and marketing touchpoints.
• Champion a culture of experimentation, feedback, and continuous learning within your team and across the organization.
• Partner strategically to expand TIDAL's capabilities beyond streaming, focusing on financial empowerment and independence for artists.
• Advocate for design best practices, pushing innovation in user experience, visual design, and product strategy.
• Leverage automation and AI.

You Have

• 12+ years of experience in Product Design, with demonstrated excellence in visual design and product strategy.
• Proven experience managing and mentoring small teams of designers, while maintaining hands-on involvement in design execution.
• A portfolio showcasing strategic design thinking, exceptional visual and user experience design, and successful leadership of product initiatives.
• Experience working with consumer-facing products across web, iOS, and Android platforms.
• Ability to articulate and champion a clear, compelling product vision and design strategy.
• Strong collaboration and influencing skills, with experience aligning cross-functional teams around user-focused design principles.
• A passion for supporting creative communities, with a deep appreciation for the financial and creative independence of artists.
• Curiosity about leveraging emerging technologies, including AI, to enhance design processes and product capabilities.
• Exceptional organizational and project management skills, comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
