We are looking for the Head of APM Terminals Procurement. This executive leader will be responsible for further developing, adapting and executing the overarching strategic direction for the APMT procurement organization.
The overall objective of the global APMT procurement is to accelerate the APMT journey of Cost Leadership and Operational Excellence through advanced procurement techniques, transformation of the aftermarket support for improved equipment reliability, and internal/external process optimization applying the Lean toolbox. While delivering on the transformation agenda, the ‘bread and butter’ continues to be securing professionally handled opex and capex spend applying best procurement practices across the source-to-contract and procure-to-pay processes.
The Head of APMT Procurement will lead a team of nine direct reports, including two global Heads of Category Management, four Regional Heads of APMT Procurement, one Business Process Owner, one Senior Negotiator and one Head of Supply Chain Operations with a total team size of approx. 250 colleagues.
Cross-functional collaboration is of utmost importance and will see the successful candidate partnering with the following internal stakeholders:
- Head of Asset Strategy and Strategic Partnerships and ASSP leadership team colleagues
- COO of APM Terminals and the APM Terminals COO Leadership Team
- The executive leadership team (AMT) of APM Terminals
- Regional Managing Directors and COOs
- Head of Asset Management
- Head of Business Implementation Management (BIM)
- Head of Asset Design and Engineering
- Head of Project Execution
- Head of Decarbonization
Further to this, externally, the Head of APMT Procurement will be responsible for partnering with large and critical suppliers.
Responsibilities:
- Set and steer the strategic direction of APM Terminals Procurement.
- Be a strategic partner to the COO Leadership Team in APM Terminals and other key stakeholders.
- Be an inspirational leader for the wider team of 250 employees and a key player in the Asset Strategy and Strategic Partnerships Leadership team. Drive top quartile engagement across the global procurement community. Continuously enhance organizational capabilities for higher quality and efficiency.
- Ensure LEAN practices are applied in all parts of the procurement organization including the setup of SQDC and procure-to-pay and source-to-contract process optimization. Continue the delivery of Lean optimization with suppliers including the ambitious Kaizen initiatives ongoing with the aim to step change the transformation, in
- novation and problem-solving with suppliers.
- Deliver on the ESG transformation in APM Terminals including the change to green electricity and electrification of equipment and ensure adherence to third-party labor standards.
- Drive the execution of key strategic and high-impact procurement projects in APM Terminals, applying advanced procurement techniques including game theory.
- Further enhance and develop the SRM engagement with strategic suppliers including solid governance around the top 15-20 suppliers linking the strategic initiatives and the APMT leadership team with the external partners. Leverage ongoing Supplier Performance Management, NPS surveys and yearly Strategic Supplier Councils to deliver tangible value to APM Terminals.
- Deliver best-in-class Category Management in all key categories and drive decision-making and progress through Category Boards and tendering activities. Strengthen the source-to-contract process through use of new and existing tech resources and AI and ensure full compliance to the Maersk Procurement toolbox. Ensure cost competitiveness in all operational and capital spend categories.
- Drive optimization of the end-to-end spare part supply chain in collaboration with the Asset Management organization, including new approaches to logistics, consignment stocking and warehousing.
- Facilitate the use of second-hand equipment across APM Terminals, including the development of policies, cross-functional collaboration on technical and operational readiness as well as project logistics.
- Facilitate and drive cost leadership best practices and governance across APM Terminals, including the continued development of cost plan tools and processes.
- Support ongoing growth initiatives through active involvement in the Business Implementation Team (BIM). Ensure a standard operating model for Procurement is implemented across all existing and new facilities as part of the APM Terminal System (ATS) based on standard processes, tools, team set up and global support approach.
- Continue the development of the APMT Nearshore Business Centre setup for Procurement with three centralized locations handling all supply chain operations in Tangier, Mumbai and Panama.
