Horace Mann is a purpose-driven company that is passionate about educators. The Group Underwriting Coordinator provides prompt and effective administrative support to the underwriting department. This is an in-office position in Madison, WI.
Responsibilities:
- Assists underwriters by preparing and organizing information for quotations, renewals, plan change requests and sold cases reviews.
- Conducts new case set-up and perform preliminary underwriting assessments, including review of initial materials and census data.
- Enter initial premium data into system and monitor daily premium edit reports for accuracy.
- Collaborate with partner billing managers to track and resolve premium arrears.
- Load policies, certificates and amendments, ensuring accuracy, confirming authorized changes, and following up on missing policy information.
- Maintain organized records for proposals, new groups, renewals, and amendments, supporting the creation of management reports.
- Manage renewal documentation, terminations, and additional requests from the department email, inbox, and direct them to the appropriate department.
- Ensure thorough documentation of all required underwriting information.
- Run manual ratings on new business quotes and in force business plan changes.
- Gather necessary data and information to rate prospect cases.
Requirements:
- High School diploma/GED equivalent is required.
- College degree preferred.
- 1- 2 years of experience in the insurance industry; Group life and disability product knowledge preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Pay Range:
- $21.01 - $32.98/hr.
Salary is commensurate to experience, location, etc.
