Government Affairs Specialist

Charter's State Government Affairs team is tasked with achieving the company's franchising, legislative and regulatory goals on a state and local level. They are seeking a bright, determined, and committed Government Affairs Specialist to join the team to assist in driving Charter's policy priorities.
How You'll Make an Impact

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Scheduling, travel arrangements, manage expense reports for SVP and other executives
• Vendor setup and vendor payments
• Maintain SGA Organizational Charts
  o Including working with HR to get new hire information to ensure org charts remain current
• Maintain and update SGA Outlook distribution lists to ensure DLs remain current
• Manage national third-party calls and maintain national third-party calendar
  o Compile and distribute call notes to team
• Attend Region bi-weekly calls, compile call notes, and distribute to team
• Assist SVP with monthly GA team birthday and work anniversary email messages
• Assist with preparation and tracking annual department budget
• Assist in brainstorming and creating SharePoint processes for SGA team
• Assist with event organization including annual/bi-annual team meetings and guest events including:
  o Logistics (planning event flow, scheduling activities, managing transportation, and coordinating setup and breakdown)
  o Managing budget (creating and adhering to a detailed budget, including vendor costs, catering, rentals, and other expenses)
  o Coordinating logistics (identifying and contracting with vendors like caterers, photographers, entertainment, and decorations)
  o Creating event timelines and event presentations
  o Managing guest list (creating and managing guest lists, sending invitations, tracking RSVPs, and handling dietary restrictions)
  o Assist with event setup (overseeing all aspects of the event on the day, addressing any issues, and ensuring everything runs smoothly)
• Analyze, monitor, and track BEAD activity, political contributions, franchise renewals, 626 letters/proof of delivery, and PEG requests
• Prepare recurring monthly status reports related to 626 letters/proofs of delivery, PEG Requests, political contributions, and franchise renewals
• With SGA Franchising Team conduct monthly audits and analyze results for:
  o Franchise Renewals/Extensions
  o Franchise Fee audits
  o Timely submission of franchise fee checklists
  o 626 windows
  -Updating 626 windows
  - Collecting and saving 626 letters and proofs of delivery
  o PEG Requests
  -Work with GA team to ensure PEG Requests are being timely worked to completion
• Research Data Management (RDM) input related to:
  o Franchise renewals/extensions
  o 626 windows
  o Community Unit ID cleanup
• Assist Sr. Director, Legislation & Ethics, to ensure timely filing of lobbying reports
• Assist with franchise activities including:
  o Timely execution of franchise renewals/extensions
  o Drafting and submitting checks requests to support franchising
  o Assist with filings in state-issued franchise areas
• Attend BEAD, rural funding, franchising, weekly OTF, and other project related calls.• Prepare correspondence• Prepare PowerPoint presentations (including SGA call monthly photo slideshow)
  Other:
• Establish weekly team meeting with VPs/Sr. Directors of administration, policy, community/strategy, franchising/local govt, legislative/ethics, and regulatory
• Maintain/distribute agenda and meeting notes to team
• Establish weekly 1:1 meeting with manager (including developing agenda for 1:1 meeting)
• Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications
Education

• Bachelor's degree in business, political science or related field or equivalent experience

Experience

• Political/government experience

Skills

• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English
• Ability to think critically, demonstrate good judgement, is detail oriented, and has innovative problem-solving skill
• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while effectively meeting deadlines
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner
• Demonstrated knowledge of the political process and campaign finance laws
• Effective organizational capabilities and experience managing financial accounts
• Effective work ethic with desire to complement a fun and dynamic team atmosphere
• Ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously
• Skilled in PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Sharepoint, Outlook, OneDrive, Notes
• Valid driver's license, satisfactory driving record within the Company required standards and auto insurance
• Goal oriented team player

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong Microsoft Office Suite experience
• Previous government affairs experience

The base pay for this position generally is between
$60,400.00 and $96,800.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
