TEAM OVERVIEW
KKR’s Global Insurance Client Solutions (GICS) team, part of KKR’s broader Insurance platform alongside Global Atlantic, is responsible for developing multi-dimensional, senior-level relationships with insurance companies globally. The GICS team aims to add value to its clients by delivering fully integrated balance sheet solutions that combine KKR’s leading asset origination capabilities, deep capital markets access and strategic capital deployment expertise, liability structuring solutions, and expert insights into global regulatory frameworks, asset allocation, portfolio construction, and ALM. GICS seeks to provide bespoke solutions with the goal of helping clients execute on their strategic initiatives and advancing KKR’s own objectives.
POSITION SUMMARY
The GICS team is looking to add an Associate to the team, based in New York. This individual will work on a range of activities primarily focused on liability origination, supporting the sourcing, evaluation and execution of reinsurance and capital solutions opportunities. These solutions will include flow reinsurance, block reinsurance, and other customized solutions including product development and Defined Contribution market products / strategies.
The candidate will work closely with the rest of the team, as well as other groups and leadership within KKR including (i) insurance investments-focused team members within GICS to support client connectivity, (ii) reinsurance pricing/deal teams to evaluate and execute liability transactions, (iii) Insurance-Funded Product Strategies team to support structuring and execution of third-party capital vehicles, and (iv) legal/finance/operations professionals to understand other pre and post-deal execution related matters. Primary responsibilities will include creating and updating product pitch materials, preparing bespoke strategic proposals, responding to client queries, and supporting the execution of reinsurance transactions.
IDEAL EXPERIENCE
Qualified candidates will have spent 2-4 years as an Analyst or Associate at an investment bank, (re)insurance company, asset management firm, or private equity firm in an M&A/structuring, corporate development, and/or other client-facing role. Ideal candidates will have exposure to insurance M&A, corporate finance, capital markets, and a working understanding of the (re)insurance market and strategies. Experience with (re)insurance structures and products and insurance capital solutions is a plus but not required. We are most focused on team-oriented candidates with strong analytical backgrounds, outstanding oral and written communication skills, maturity, presence, and sound judgment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Partner with senior team members on pitching liability solutions in addition to developing new client relationships and helping to maintain existing ones
- Maintain open dialogue with team members and provide ongoing client support
- Work closely with:
- Reinsurance pricing/deal teams, and the firm’s insurance business to evaluate and execute reinsurance transactions as well as understand the current portfolio, deal pipeline, and overall market dynamics
- Senior team members to help pursue new business opportunities
- Finance/Operations/Compliance/Legal professionals for ongoing client communications and requests
- Create and update product pitch materials and conduct any ad-hoc analyses
- Manage and address client-specific follow-up requests and projects
- Participate in live transactions and be involved in the client management process
- Support in the origination and execution of (re)insurance co-investment vehicles and other insurance capital solutions
- Conduct financial analysis to evaluate new business opportunities and existing business trends
- Assist with the administration of transaction processes
