Amalgamated Sugar Company is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Specialist to support and maintain a robust Food Safety and Quality System (FSQS) within a GMP manufacturing and warehouse environment. This role plays a critical part in ensuring compliance with SQF, FDA, and internal food safety standards across the sugar beet mill and warehouse operations. The position partners closely with Quality Assurance leadership and cross‑functional teams to protect product integrity and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Implement, monitor, and maintain the Food Safety and Quality System (FSQS) at the Twin Falls facility
- Verify daily warehouse and production activities comply with GMPs, SOPs, and quality standards
- Conduct routine inspections of the GMP warehouse, sugar beet mill, and feed sheds
- Develop, update, and maintain SOPs using standardized formats within the FSQS scope
- Maintain HACCP plans, PCQI requirements, and food safety documentation
- Investigate food safety incidents, manage corrective and preventive actions, and document deviations
- Complete and review required FSQS records and daily compliance documentation
- Stay current on SQF Code requirements and applicable FDA and state regulations
- Collaborate across departments to support food safety, quality, and operational goals
- Support employee food safety and FSQS training initiatives
- Working knowledge of GMP environments and food safety systems
- Strong understanding of HACCP principles and food safety documentation
- Ability to influence, communicate, and collaborate effectively across teams
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow and interpret safety, sanitation, and operational procedures
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and general computer applications
- Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to sister facilities as needed
- PCQI certification
- Experience with SQF Code implementation or maintenance
- Knowledge of storage, packaging, and shipping operations
- Experience conducting internal audits or inspections
- Background in regulated food manufacturing environments
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Level I: Limited to no food safety experience; less than two years with Amalgamated Sugar
- Level II: Minimum two years of food safety and quality experience; PCQI and HACCP certification required
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills may substitute for experience at management discretion
