JOB SUMMARY
The FLEX Manager, Product Owner for the Cart & Order Team is responsible for driving the evolution of Marriott's commerce platform capabilities, including cart, checkout, order orchestration, reservation creation, modification, and cancellation experiences. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, QA, and dependent domain teams to define product capabilities, maintain a prioritized backlog, and ensure high-quality delivery of customer and business value.
The ideal candidate combines strong product thinking, business analysis skills, stakeholder management, and agile delivery experience. They can translate complex business needs into detailed requirements while ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and platform roadmaps. This role plays a critical part in enabling scalable, reliable, and seamless guest booking experiences across Marriott's digital channels.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science or a related field or equivalate professional experience
- 5 years’ experience in the business, technology, sales and marketing, management operations, or related professional area.
- At least 4 years of experience with converting business needs into technology requirements.
Preferred
- Experience as a Product Owner, Product Analyst, Business Analyst, or Product Manager in an Agile environment
- Strong understanding of eCommerce, shopping cart, checkout, order management, reservations, or digital commerce platforms
- Experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, epics, and process documentation
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Experience with Jira, Confluence, Agile methodologies, and cross-functional product teams
- Ability to balance strategic planning with hands-on delivery execution
- Experience working with APIs, microservices, and platform-based architectures
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Backlog Management & Prioritization
- Own and maintain the product backlog, ensuring features, epics, and stories are aligned with business priorities
- Prioritize work based on customer value, operational impact, strategic initiatives, and technical dependencies
- Build and refine backlog items for upcoming sprints, program increments, and future releases
- Ensure stories meet Definition of Ready and are prepared for development execution
Requirements & Story Development
- Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders across multiple domains
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and business rules
- Lead functional story refinement sessions and collaborate with technical leads during solution reviews
- Ensure requirements are complete, testable, and understandable for engineering and QA teams
Agile Delivery & Execution
- Participate in sprint planning, backlog grooming, demos, retrospectives, and release activities
- Partner with Scrum Masters, engineers, and quality engineers to remove ambiguity and support delivery
- Monitor progress against commitments and proactively address risks, blockers, and dependencies
- Validate completed work against acceptance criteria and business expectations
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams
- Facilitate alignment across dependent domains including Reservations, Payments, Loyalty, Guest Profile, and other platform services
- Communicate priorities, delivery status, risks, and upcoming initiatives to stakeholders and leadership
- Support executive updates, demos, and product reviews
