Job Description:

Shield AI is seeking a Fleet Analyst to serve as the data backbone of the Fleet Strategy & Portfolio Management function within Aircraft Division.

Fleet Strategy & Portfolio Management is responsible for translating fleet visibility into business-grounded recommendations on how to align aircraft across customers, programs, captures, and internal demand. The function maintains the authoritative, real-time ledger of every aircraft in the enterprise fleet and turns that visibility into the dashboards, forecasts, and configuration intelligence that drive enterprise decision-making.

The Fleet Analyst will maintain the enterprise fleet ledger, build and own the analytical infrastructure that supports fleet decisions, and translate operational data into clear recommendations for the Senior Manager and Mission Control leadership. This role requires deep understanding of aircraft operations, configuration management, and rigorous data discipline. Decisions made across Fleet Strategy & Portfolio Management depend on the accuracy and timeliness of the data this role produces.

What you'll do:

    Fleet Ledger & Configuration Intelligence
  • Maintain authoritative, real-time visibility of every aircraft in the enterprise fleet, including location, configuration, flight hours, maintenance posture, modification status, and remaining useful life.
  • Track configuration history and downstream impacts as aircraft cycle through customer deployments, test campaigns, training events, and depot-level maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, and Sustainment to ensure the ledger reflects ground truth at all times.
  • Analytics Infrastructure & Reporting
  • Build and maintain the analytical infrastructure that makes fleet decisions repeatable and defensible: utilization dashboards, configuration intelligence tooling, lifecycle forecasting, and routine fleet posture reporting.
  • Generate rolling 6, 12, and 24-month forecasts of fleet availability and configuration posture to support contractual commitments, capture activities, and capacity planning.
  • Continuously improve data quality and tooling so the function scales as the fleet grows.
  • Decision Support
  • Translate fleet visibility into clear, decision-ready briefings for the Senior Manager and Mission Control leadership.
  • Surface portfolio-level patterns (underutilized assets, configuration trends, deal-impacting risks) that warrant strategic attention.
  • Provide rapid analytical support for ad hoc fleet questions from senior leadership, Business Development, Program Management, and Finance.

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Research, Engineering, Aviation Management, Data Analytics, or related field.
  • 5+ years of combined military and/or industry experience in aviation logistics, fleet analytics, operations research, or enterprise asset management.
  • Strong proficiency in data tools (Tableau, Power BI, SQL, Excel) with demonstrated ability to build and maintain dashboards used by senior leadership.
  • Working knowledge of aircraft operations, configuration management, or fleet portfolio principles.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to translate operational data into clear narratives for non-analyst audiences.
  • Excellent attention to detail and discipline in maintaining data quality.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior military aviation maintenance, scheduling, or operations officer experience.
  • Familiarity with formal military planning processes (MDMP, JOPP, or equivalent).
  • Experience with lifecycle modeling, RUL forecasting, or configuration management in aerospace or defense contexts.
  • Exposure to government contract structures (FFP, CPFF, OTA) and how they shape fleet allocation.
  • Experience supporting capture activities, capacity modeling, or proposal feasibility analysis.
  • Familiarity with unmanned aircraft systems, particularly V-BAT or similar platforms.

What We Do

At Shield AI, you won't wait years to see your work reach the field. You'll build hardware and software that operates in the real world right now, in the hands of the people who depend on it. Hivemind, our AI pilot, has been flying since 2018. It has flown more than 30 platforms, including an F-16, and it now sits under a U.S. Air Force production contract for Collaborative Combat Aircraft. When you write code or shape a system here, you contribute to technology with a proven flight record and a clear production future. V-BAT flies intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions with an operational record that stretches from Ukraine to the Indo-Pacific. It delivers eyes where they matter most, in the most demanding conditions on earth. The teams behind it watch their work get tested where the stakes are real. X-BAT takes its first flight this year. It's an AI-piloted fighter that needs no runway, built to operate where traditional aircraft can't. Join now and you help shape a program at its earliest, most formative stage. That's the kind of ground-floor work that defines a career. Do the most impactful work of your life, on problems that matter. Autonomy at this level asks a lot of you. You'll take on problems in perception, planning, and control that few teams anywhere are equipped to solve. You'll work across disciplines, from aerospace and robotics to machine learning and systems engineering, alongside people who hold themselves to an exacting standard and expect the same from you. Our mission is clear: protect service members and civilians with intelligent systems. That purpose runs through every decision, every design review, and every deployment. It's why the work here carries a weight you can feel. Ready to join our mission? Explore our open roles and find where you fit.

Why Work With Us

Founded in 2015 by a former Navy SEAL, Shield AI builds AI pilots and uncrewed aircraft. Veterans aren't an afterthought here, they're at every level. It's why the work carries weight: AI pilots and uncrewed aircraft flying real missions, from Ukraine to the Indo-Pacific, protecting service members and civilians.
