ABOUT THE JOB

We are seeking an ambitious, highly motivated Fine Art Sales representative who can build relationships, create sales opportunities, and confidently guide clients through the entire art-buying process. The sales Representative will also engage with Galleries across the regions, educating and consulting them on their online presence and digital strategy, and ultimately winning new business for Artelia.

 

This level and title is based solely on experience. An exceptional candidate may take on a larger role in developing sales strategy, managing client relationships, building industry partnerships, and helping lead the gallery’s growth.

 

The strongest candidate will bring an entrepreneurial approach to sales. This means actively engaging collectors, following up consistently, building relationships throughout and thinking creatively about how to connect collectors with the right artwork.

 

 

What You’ll Do At Artelia

· Drive business development efforts by devising, implementing and conducting effective lead generation strategies, engaging with high-value prospects

· Identify opportunities to grow market presence

· Develop new and dormant client relationships through outreach and networking

· Conduct offsite meetings and client visits to grow brand awareness

· Build relationships with artists, galleries, collectors, and art professionals

· Consistently achieve and surpass monthly and quarterly revenue targets for new gallery acquisitions

· Manage the end-to-end sales cycle, from initial outreach to closing deals, while maintaining a strong focus on building and nurturing long-term relationships with key prospects

· Demonstrate expertise in objection handling, effectively addressing client concerns and positioning Artelia as the premier solution for their needs

· Learn the each artist’s story, collections, materials, editions, and pricing

· Cultivate trust and credibility through timely and personalized follow-up, fostering strong and enduring partnerships with prospects

· Collaborating with the Sales team to strategize on which markets to target based on events, art happenings and seasonality

· Utilize AI and automation tools to increase process efficiency and provide better solutions to partners.

This Role Is a Fit For You If you have

· ~5 years of art industry experience in a revenue driving, client acquisition/retention, or account management role

· Experienced in fine art, luxury retail, jewelry, interior design, hospitality, or consultative sales

· You have direct knowledge and understanding of Gallery sales motions,( Strong preference given to experience in luxury brand sales and/or design-related/building environments).

· Experience with basic sales administration, including inventory tracking, documentation, and CRM or sales management tools.

· You are a consultative sales professional who prioritizes understanding and meeting customer needs in every interaction with the ability to present and communicate the aesthetic, cultural, and investment value of fine art in clear, engaging, and professional language.

· Personable, polished, articulate, and possess the ability to present and communicate the aesthetic, cultural, and investment value of fine art in clear, engaging, and professional language.

· Competitive, persistent, resourceful, and motivated by results

· Are not afraid to ask for the sale or follow up multiple times

· Can take ownership of the full sales process rather than waiting for direction

· Can think outside the box and finds creative ways to reach new collectors

· Have an appreciation for art, photography, design, architecture or interiors.

 

This role is unlikely to be a good match if you….

· Do not have a minimum of 3+ years in the Art Industry

· Are not Familiar with art markets, galleries, auctions, and trends in contemporary and traditional art, especially within Nigeria and regional markets

· Do not have a background in Art

· Do not have a background in Sales

· Prefer to work outside of a team setting

· Are not interested in art or the art market

· Unwilling to work on-site in Abuja for client meetings, events, and exhibitions, combined with effective remote work capabilities.

Skills Required

  • ~5 years of art industry experience in revenue driving, client acquisition/retention, or account management role
