We are recruiting on behalf
of our client, an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Management (EPCM)
company. The company delivers EPCM contracts
and project management consulting across different sectors, with project management at the heart of
everything it does.
The Stakeholder Management Officer
will build and maintain strong relationships with the company's key
stakeholders, government agencies, regulators, clients, partners, industry
bodies and host communities. You will manage stakeholder expectations,
coordinate engagements, and support the preparation of tenders, bids and
proposals, so that the company wins new business, its projects run smoothly and
its reputation grows.
This is a lean, hands-on environment.
The company needs someone who can work independently, use their initiative and
find solutions, rather than someone who waits for detailed instructions or
relies on a large, highly structured organization around them.
1. Stakeholder mapping
• Identify and map key internal and
external stakeholders, and keep the stakeholder database complete and current.
2. Relationship management
• Build and maintain productive
relationships with government agencies, regulators, clients, partners, industry
bodies, community representatives and other relevant stakeholders.
• Serve as a key point of contact
between the company and its stakeholders, and follow up promptly on commitments
and agreed actions.
3. Engagement planning and
coordination
• Develop stakeholder engagement plans
and communication strategies.
• Coordinate stakeholder meetings,
consultations, workshops and relationship-building activities.
4. Government, regulatory and
community engagement
• Support government, regulatory,
institutional and community engagements linked to the company's projects and
business activities.
5. Issues and stakeholder
intelligence
• Monitor stakeholder concerns,
expectations, sentiment and emerging issues, and escalate critical matters to
management early.
• Resolve issues and conflicts where
possible, and come to management with recommendations, not just the problem.
6. Business opportunities
• Identify and monitor government,
corporate, institutional and development-sector opportunities, including
tenders and procurement opportunities.
• Identify opportunities to build
strategic partnerships and improve the company's position with key
stakeholders.
7. Tenders, bids and proposals
• Support the preparation of tenders,
bids, expressions of interest (EOIs), RFP responses, pre-qualification documents
and the stakeholder sections of proposals.
• Provide stakeholder intelligence,
institutional relationships, regulatory information and local-context insights
to strengthen bid submissions, including the stakeholder mapping and engagement
plans that tenders require.
• Assist with client presentations,
clarification meetings, negotiations and post-bid engagements where required.
8. Communication between departments
• Maintain a clear, steady flow of
information between Business Development, Projects, Technical, Finance and
Management, especially during tender and bid preparation.
• Act as the channel through which
project teams keep clients and external stakeholders updated on progress, risks
and key decisions.
9. Documentation and reporting
• Ensure records of stakeholder
commitments, engagements, issues, resolutions and bid-related interactions are
adequate, accurate and up to date.
• Prepare briefing notes, stakeholder
reports, presentations, correspondence, meeting summaries and tender
documentation.
10. Corporate reputation
• Support the company's corporate
reputation and relationship-building initiatives.
Requirements
Qualifications and experience
• B.Sc/BA in Public Administration,
Political Science, Mass Communication, Business Administration, Law,
Engineering or a related field.
• 3–6 years' experience in stakeholder
management, government relations, business development or bid and tender
management.
• A proven record of building
stakeholder relationships and contributing to successful bids. You will be
asked to give examples of engagements you have led and tenders you have worked
on.
• An established network across
government agencies, regulators and industry bodies is a strong advantage.
• A professional qualification in public
relations, stakeholder management or bid management (e.g. NIPR, APMP) is an
advantage.
The client is looking for a sharp,
high-calibre relationship builder who can deliver. You will be:
• A problem solver – when a stakeholder issue arises, you
think it through and come back with a workable solution, not just the issue.
• Self-driven – you use your initiative, work
independently and follow up until commitments are met.
• Comfortable in a small environment – you thrive in a lean team where roles
are broad, and you do not depend on a rigid structure to perform.
• Well connected and diplomatic – you open doors, read people and
situations well, and represent the company with tact and credibility.
• A proven deliverer – you have the track record to show that
your relationships and bid work bring results.
