Our Opportunity
Chewy is seeking a Finance Manager to support our Dog Treats business within Dog Consumables, based in Plantation, FL! This role is the financial and strategic partner to the Dog Treats merchandising/category team, combining strong financial acumen, practical knowledge of financial statements, and a data-driven approach to decision-making. The Finance Manager will own the Dog Treats P&L, lead weekly/monthly/quarterly reporting and forecasting cycles, support AVN and vendor funding negotiations, and deliver deep-dive and ad hoc analyses that guide key business decisions.
At Chewy, we believe in ownership and accountability and value creativity. We are makers and doers who thrive on the desire to drive results. We approach our mission to provide the best service and pet products anywhere with a dogged determination. Sure, we work hard, but we have fun too, especially when you get to bring your favorite four-legged friend to the office.
What You'll Do
- Own the Dog Treats P&L and serve as the day-to-day finance partner to business leadership, ensuring strong controllership, performance management, and decision support.
- Lead forecasting and planning cycles (weekly, monthly, quarterly), including development of key assumptions, risks/opportunities tracking, and clear driver-based variance explanations.
- Deliver weekly, monthly, and quarterly business reporting (WBR/MBR/QBR), including results vs. plan/forecast, KPI performance, and concise narratives for leadership.
- Oversee month-end close activities for Dog Treats, including reconciliation and root-cause analysis of variances between actuals, trends, plan, and targets.
- Partner on AVN/vendor funding strategy and negotiations, including building data-backed targets, tracking funding realization vs. plan, and surfacing gaps early to protect profitability.
- Build and maintain financial models to evaluate assortment, pricing, promotion, and other strategic decisions, including scenario modeling and investment/business case development.
- Conduct deep-dive and ad hoc analyses to diagnose performance, quantify trade-offs, and provide recommendations that drive results (e.g., promo efficiency, mix shifts, margin drivers).
- Work cross-functionally with Finance, Merchandising, Analytics, Product, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Accounting to align on one set of numbers and execute against business priorities.
- Drive continuous improvement in reporting, forecasting, and analytical processes by simplifying workflows, strengthening metric definitions, and improving automation where possible.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards for accuracy, clarity, and stakeholder responsiveness.
What You'll Need
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or similar required. MBA preferred.
- 5+ years of relevant experience (Strategic Finance, Financial Analysis, Corporate Finance, Ops/Supply Chain Finance, Investment Banking), preferably with exposure to retail/e-commerce finance and financial modeling.
- Strong understanding of GAAP, financial statements, and P&L mechanics, with experience in forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and KPI performance management.
- Advanced analytical and modeling skills, with the ability to build analyses from the ground up, synthesize large datasets, and translate findings into clear recommendations.
- Working experience with SQL or another programming language required; experience with Hyperion or other EPM/FP&A tools is a plus.
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal), including the ability to distill complex information clearly for business leaders.
- Ability to operate in ambiguity and rapidly changing conditions while consistently delivering high-quality outputs.
- High ownership mentality, strong bias for action, and proven ability to drive projects to completion.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills; data visualization experience (Tableau or similar) is a plus.
