Position Overview:
The Export Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the entire export process, ensuring compliance with international trade regulations, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, and ensuring the timely and cost-effective shipment of goods. This role involves team supervision, client interaction, and optimization of export operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Export Process Management:
- Oversee the end-to-end export process, including documentation, customs clearance, and shipment coordination.
- Ensure all goods are prepared, packed, and labeled according to client and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor the progress of shipments and ensure timely dispatch and delivery
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure all export activities comply with Tanzanian customs regulations and international trade laws.
- Handle any disputes or queries with customs authorities effectively.
Documentation and Record Keeping:
- Review and verify export documents, such as invoices, packing lists, and certificates of origin.
- Maintain accurate records of all export transactions for auditing and reporting purposes.
Team Leadership:
- Supervise and train the export team to ensure adherence to company policies and efficient operations.
- Delegate tasks effectively and monitor team performance.
Client and Vendor Coordination:
- Communicate with clients to understand their export requirements and provide updates.
- Liaise with shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transport providers to arrange shipments.
Cost Management:
- Monitor and manage costs associated with the export process, including freight, duties, and taxes.
- Identify opportunities to optimize costs without compromising service quality.
Problem-Solving:
- Address and resolve any issues or delays in the export process.
- Implement contingency plans for unforeseen challenges.
Performance Reporting:
- Generate and submit regular reports on export activities, performance metrics, and challenges to management.
- Provide insights and recommendations to improve the export process.
Skills Required
- Knowledge of Tanzanian customs regulations and international trade laws
- Experience overseeing end-to-end export process, including documentation and customs clearance
- Ability to supervise, train, and monitor performance of an export team
- Experience coordinating with clients, shipping lines, freight forwarders, and transport providers
- Experience preparing, packing, and labeling goods per client and regulatory requirements
- Experience reviewing and verifying export documents (invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin)
- Cost management and optimization skills for freight, duties, and taxes
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to implement contingency plans for shipment issues
- Ability to generate regular reports on export activities and recommend process improvements
