Our client, a leading logistics and export company based in Dar-es-Salaam, is seeking an Export Supervisor to coordinate return cargo and drive growth in their export business. The role involves monitoring sea export operations for Tanzania and neighboring countries (Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda, Burundi, Uganda) using the Port of Dar es Salaam. The ideal candidate will have strong market knowledge, operational expertise in clearing and forwarding, and excellent English communication and customer management skills.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement export strategies, ensuring all project requirements and documentation are met.
- Plan weekly cargo for available trucks and coordinate shipping schedules.
- Discuss and confirm rates with Operations and clients.
- Prepare business plans to achieve target volumes and profits; monitor customer transactions and requirements.
- Open files on SAP and generate shipment orders.
- Monitor sales transactions, resolve client issues, and manage export product shipments.
- Collaborate with suppliers, marketing managers, clients, and branch managers to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee daily operations of the export department and increase transit and local export sales.
- Maintain comprehensive operational records for management review.
- Liaise with authorities, shipping lines, and client agents for cargo documentation.
- Ensure timely shipping line bookings and review detention charges and invoices.
- Respond promptly to client and internal queries; maintain high-quality service by meeting KPIs.
- Submit loading lists/orders to clients and shipping lines.
- Escalate issues with pre-advised trucks not loaded within defined timelines.
- Generate daily, weekly, and monthly reports on export operations and truck status.
- Resolve complaints within 24 hours.
Requirements
- Diploma in Clearing and Forwarding or Bachelor’s in Logistics Management.
- 2–3 years of export experience; experience in clearing and forwarding is a plus.
- SAP knowledge is an advantage.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and computational skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and communication skills.
- Numeric proficiency and attention to operational detail.
